Paw Cream Suggestions My dog is 3.5 lbs. She hardly ever walks outside but still I want to put some cream on her paws. Do you suggest any good brands that I can order? |
Cream or lotion may soften the pads of her paws too much, putting them at risk for injury. Paws pads are meant to be a little tough to withstand walking barefoot. Is there something about her paws that has you concerned? |
I rub coconut oil paws. I believe he licks most of it off. |

You are making me think of when I first brought Max home as a puppy. His little paw pads were so perfect, they didn't real! They are a little rougher and greyer now from many miles of walks. He injured a paw pad once and I used a product called Bag Balm to heal it. I was concerned about him licking it, so I would probably use organic coconut oil as Shicks above suggested in the future. What is that stuff called....is it "Bag Balm" - that should be good for paws... |
I've read raving reviews on this product called Musher's Secret (but have never used it before, only because I also read that coconut oil can do the same/similar thing). Musher's Secret Dog Paw Pad Protection Wax | Mushers Wax All Natural Dog Paw Pad Protection But I only looked into this for the purposes of protecting the paws during winter, when they salt the road/sidewalks to prevent icing, and then also during the summer, when the concrete and asphalt is too hot. I agree with Maximo - their paws are meant to naturally toughen up a bit. Despite wanting to treat them like little humans  they don't need hand and foot creams like we do. I mean, we wear shoes...they don't :D |

Been using it for years and very satisfied with result. Protects pads but also nourishes so the pads won't crack from being overly used. |
