Leave in conditioner Has anyone tried the leave in conditioner called "the Stuff"? It has excellent reviews on Amazon. I'm wondering if it will make my baby's hair more tame after bath. Also, the review said you won't have to wash as often. Please give me feedback so if you used this before. Thank you. ![]() |
Sound interesting I to would like to know if any one has used it. My Bella seems to get a lot of pee on her back leg area and needs what I call a bum bath often. Maybe it would help that. |
I used it so many years ago to really remember, but the use of silicone is controversial. Some people say it's wonderful, however. Perhaps the newer silicones like dimethicone might be okay, but I am going to do more research once I have the time. My favored leave in conditioners don't have them (Isle of Dogs 63, PEK conditioner only a natural silicone). I read this about "The Stuff," which would make me stay away from it. "The older silicones, still used in products like “The Stuff” for dogs, formed a thicker layer over each hair and could eventually yellow or become brittle. The newer silicones, like dimethicone, form an extremely thin layer over each hair; they basically mimic what the hair would look and feel like if it had a perfect, undamaged cuticle. Silicones are unbelievably useful in dog products – they are very benign to the skin and coat, in terms of gloss and texture they give you results like nothing else, and they stay attached to the hair even when the hair gets wet. This allows them to be used as stain- and mud-fighters. " I have used Ice on Ice by Chris Christensen (which I new realize contains silicone), but I mostly use Isle of Dogs Coature Detangling Spray #63. All of their Coature products are wonderful. I buy the larger sizes, which make them so much more cost effective. You will need to buy a spray bottle, but this liter size at Amazon is about the same size as the 8.5 ounce size. I also use Isle of Dogs Shampoo 10 and Heavy Conditioner 51. Lastly, I love IV SanBernard Products. PEK conditioner is amazing, and you can take a small amount mixed with water in a spray bottle as a leave in for Detangling. I use Black Passion shampoo and masque and Fruit of the Groomer shampoo too. I only buy from them when they have a good sale, because they are expensive (except Fruit of the Groomer), but the big sizes last me a long time and are much more cost effective. https://www.iodogs.com/images/docume...L_12.31.14.pdf ![]() PEK Detangling Solutions https://www.ahsvet.com/wp-content/up...t-Brochure.pdf IV SAN BERNARD PEK CONDITIONER IV SAN BERNARD PEK CONDITIONER Great price includes PEK, 3 shampoos, and 3 conditioners , but they now have the same shampoo without sodium laurel sulfate. So, I would imagine it depends on the product and is not a one rule fits all. |
A google search so you can do your own research and be comfortable with whatever your choices are :) : https://www.google.com/#newwindow=1&...ium+23+on+dogs |

I tried the Stuff and really didn't find anything special about it at all...it wasn't bad or anything, but just nothing special. |

People have raved about Cowboy Magic leave-in...but again, I think you're dealing w/ silicones again, right...? The PEK conditioner from Iv San Bernard really is a great conditioner. Pricey, but nice. |
