Peeing with a leg up???!
 
With all of the problems with little Gal, I wanted to go for a lighter post. Every since she saw that huge chihuahua pee outside, I think she's super confused on how she's supposed to pee. She lifts her left leg up. I can't help but crack up.

I have a shih tzu that has done that since she was a baby being around a boy yorkie and a female poodle. The poodle never did it.

Ruh roh - you may have a tomboy on your hands like our Pfeiffer girl! She came to us a little princess and the boys turned her into a total tomboy :p!

I can go one better. Duchess pees with both legs up, she sort of does this walking handstand while peeing thingy....now that's hilarious. Whenever we go to the dog park, she always get's lots of laughs.

I had a girl poodle who always peed with her right rear leg up. she looked dainty when she did so. Maybe they just don't want to get their paws wet where they pee like the one who pees with both legs in the air. Just a thought.

I'll try to get one, I keep forgetting to take my phone on walks plus she pee's super fast. I only have a few second windows before she is done.:p

Out of 4 females that I have had only one little girl lift her leg to pee, it was cute.

I'm going to snap a picture if I can sometime today. I think she's now lifting both legs. I THINk she's learned to do this on the stairs!!! her favorite thing to do is to perch at the top and peer down at us. she's also been kinda stretching on them.. and with that and that massive chihuahua I think she's learned it, too.

I remembered our previous yorkie female started peeing normal the first few days she came to us but then suddenly started leg lifting lol we knew it was cause she's taking cues from our male yorkie at the time. It was hilarious because she was really stretching her legs out so far at first that she'll lose her balance :P Ever since then she's learn to squat and lift a leg. Our two jack russells that we'd lost in the past couple of years also did squats with a leg lifted.
My little Kimchi doesn't though. She either squats or does a little dance. lol >_<

I like the way you worded how your previous yorkie female changed the way she peed. It was just like my little girl poodle would pee instead of the way I first put it. She would squat and lift her little leg up and I thought she just looked so dainty. She just did that on her own and there were no males to show her their way of peeing.

Porsche has always peed with her right rear leg lifted. No males around to show her. I always thought it was so cute.:p

But, to get into the discussion , my Grand puppy is a 8 pound beautiful girl, she just started lifting her leg just a little when she potties. lol I said what is up with this new thing and she just glares at me with her big brown eyes. lol I thing its cute. :animal-pa

I'm thinking it might have a lot to do with them not liking the pee to pool around at their feet (like they don't like the feel or something), as much as them taking cues from a male dog or other females that do it. In those cases, I guess it's their way of not getting their feet wet as much as possible.

My female Yorkie pees like that as well, she has since she was a puppy. My mom and dad have a male basset hound, but he doesn't lift his leg, his body is so low to the ground, that he squats and pees like a girl! We had a female golden retriever ( she recently passed away :( ) that also lifted her leg a bit to pee. :D
