sleeping Do your babies sleep in the bed with you? If so, how old were they when you started letting them sleep with you? I'd love to have my little Gidget be my cuddle bug. |
Is she fully potty trained? Do you have steps for the bed? All of my pets started sleeping with bed almost from day 1. How old is your puppy? For the very young pups, I usually waited until they were steady on their feet. I wanted them to not be afraid of going down the steps. Some days I use to wake up with every animal in the house sleeping in my bed. |

I always wait until my dogs are a year old-but of course you can do sooner. then they climb the steps to my bed and sleep by my chest. |
Max insisted on sleeping in his xpen next to my bed until he was a year old. He wanted the gate shut and locked. :D I agree with everyone above that one of the big concerns with a little puppy is falling off a high bed. Potty needs also. |
I occasionally want mine to sleep on my bed too, but I have allergies and finally decided to keep my bed Yorkies-free. They have their beds, I have mine, and then the only space we share sleeping areas is on the couch :D Just curious though, how do you guys sleep with the little ones without crushing them? I tried a couple times but kept worrying I'd somehow crush them if I rolled over or put my leg over them without knowing because I'm a very deep sleeper... |

I'm thinking about waiting until she's closer to a year old before putting her in bed with me. We had a yorkie who died at age 13 in 2012. He slept with us (my husband was living then) and he never had a problem with one of us rolling over on him. But I'm thinking he was probably closer to a year old before we let him sleep with us. |
My two had their own "room" to sleep in but a situation happened where I had to let them sleep in my room. Magnus is a big boy so he has no problem jumping on/off my bed but Zoey being so tiny, couldn't. I purchased steps for her but she wouldn't use them. So I built a ramp. She caught onto that in no time! After I moved, I set the box/mattress onto the floor but I still put the ramp next to the bed. I don't want her wearing out her joints. Even though she's able to jump on/off the bed at that height, she uses the ramp so I'm happy. :D I also have pee pad in the bathroom and water for them in case they need to use it in the middle of the night. Magnus would get a drink of water sometimes but will wait to pee till morning. Zoey, she seems to use the pad few times a week. I know she's not able to hold it like Magnus. |
Buddybear was over 11 months when he started sleeping with us. I have a small dog bed on top of our bedspread that he sleeps in most of the time. Other than that he likes to sleep on or near my feet. Occasionally if he gets cold he will come up to cuddle. Sometimes he will lick me to take him out to pee even though we always take him out just before bedtime. |
I have soft foam steps next to my bed. Cali often gets up in the night to go potty or get a drink, then just gets back in bed with me. Sometimes I don't even hear her get down and back up. She sleeps right next to my shoulder. She also wants to tell me when she wants us to,go,to bed and when we should get up for the day - that we argue about :D |
I got my little girl in December and she turned 2 march 30th. So she has slept with me from day 1. She never slept with anyone before, so she mostly stays at the foot of the bed. She moves around. And i have a low bed so she just jumps up and down as she pleases. She sleeps from 9pm til i wake up around 10am. Lucky me! Haha Then she doesnt potty til I leave the bedroom. Shes a private lady. Lol |
I put Barney in a nylon "sleeping bag" when he was a puppy and put him in the bed beside me. Kind of like this one. When he would cry, I would put my hand up to the mesh part. It worked pretty well. I didn't have to worry about him jumping off the bed. |
oh we started off with my male who was 4 months old when he became part of our family sleeping in a crate but within a week he was in our bed. A year later we added his sisters who were 8 and 9 months old and yes again we tried the crate but they two ended up in our bed. I wouldn't have it any other way. They sleep all night and I do have stairs in case a bathroom break is needed but that is very rare. My husband is so concerned about how them falling off he just ordered a new platform bed to ensure their safety. Now that's a little crazy but I wouldn't have it any other way. :) :) |
