Dry Skin Products/Suggestions For My Yorkie I noticed today when brushing my Yorkie she has some Flaking Dry Skin Patches on Her Skin. What could cause this and what could I use to help this skin issue? Any suggestions would be most grateful. Also Has Anybody else experienced this problem with their Yorkie? |
The simplest answer is not washing out thoroughly the shampoo. Next with central heating is or can be the air in your home is dry. Ezcema is another possiblity But I would make sure I rinse a heck of a lot after shampooing. You can also add a bit of coconut oil to her diet. A deep conditioning might not be amiss as well. If the above does not work a trip to the vet... |
Omega Vitamins I have a yorkie and one of my pugs that both were having a lot of dandruff issues. I tried different oatmeal shampoos, feeding them coconut oil daily as a treat.. nothing seemed to work. Finally about a month ago I got these omega vitamins for them and the dandruff is gone! Plus, it seems to be helping a lot with reducing the shedding in my 2 pugs too. I did a TON of research before deciding on purchasing these, but it appears I got a good quality one! For our 3 dogs, this bottle of 180 lasts us 2 months. |
The skin is the body's *largest organ*...so it can definitely show when something is out of balance. How old is your kiddo? Is she itching or chewing/licking her paws? If yes, I'd be exploring allergies...there is a thread in the Health Library up top. Otherwise, I'd try adding either some Fish oil or coconut oil to her diet for added moisture and essential fatty acids. |

I was also going to ask how old is your pup? Scottie had this problem when he was 5-6 months. After he settled on a quality kibble (he was very picky at first with a sensitive stomach), started feeding him a bit of organic coconut oil, and made sure I rinsed shampoo out well, his skin eventually cleared up. |
I agree with Gemy to start with looking at which shampoo and conditioner you are using, and to make sure you are rinsing the shampoo out thoroughly. Then as Wylie's Mom suggested, evaluate if your dog has symptoms of allergies or something lacking in the diet. |
