Cataract surgery My male yorkie undergoes cataract surgery in one eye on Thursday. He will be 17 YO on May 5th. He is mostly deaf but otherwise in excellent health. Never-the-less, I am a bit nervous. Just thought I'd like a place where I could go for advice if complications develop. I don't think he is going to tolerate the cone very well. That is my biggest dread at this point. But maybe improved eyesight will compensate. So, hopefully all will go very well and the most I will have to do is report good news. |
Best of luck to you and Ewok! Cataract surgery has become very common now so all should go well. We do always worry about our fur babies though. My 7 year old pup is having her cataracts watched. They say they won't do anything yet, but I'm sure it is coming down the road. Keep us posted! I know there are others here who have had pups who had this surgery. They could tell you more. |
Hi I use a blow up donut type of collar on my dogs . It works great and they can still see in all directions but can not get to the surgery area. Mine hated the cone . This is a funny story. If one of mine would have a cone on my other dogs would help remove it.. LOL |
Best of luck - please do let us know how he does. |
I don't know about dog's cataract surgery but my mom had both her eyes done. So if it's anything like it, nothing to worry about! As for the cone, there's a member here that makes those soft cones. I think the furries might be more accepting to it b/c it's soft and light. Can anyone remember who it is?! |
