When to.. So I have two questions that are not related to each other at all lol. The first question is, when is it a good time to stop giving Daisy wet food and just leave out dry food for her to eat because she eats both. She will eat the dry and wet food together and then there are times where she will just eat the dry food. She loves both. I actually change her dry food. I had her on IAMS and she was the biggest fan so I changed to Royal Canine which is her wet food as well. As soon as I put the dry food down she ate it. So when is it good to stop with the wet food. I do put less wet food then dry food when I do feed her. My next question is when can Daisy go outside on a leash? Like go for walks. She is 14 weeks right now. I figured I would double ask with everyone on here because I value your answers more than others. Some say she can go out now and others said wait till she's 16 weeks old. |
My veterinarian told me that a couple weeks after the last vaccination would be fine to go out on walks. That's what I was told, but maybe you want to confirm when you go to the veterinary clinic. You're probably fine to be in your backyard at the moment, but I'd stay off the trails till a little bit after the last vaccination. I think people might be saying 16 weeks cause a vaccination schedule I believe quite often goes 8, 12, 16. |

Shots: You want her to have the last shot on board for at least a week....I prefer two weeks.... I am just not real big advocate on exposing young babies (less than 8 months old) to the general public people, other animals, environment, etc....Not like we are talking about an 80 lb dog that needs an enormous area to exercise in....my motto for ANY situation has ALWAYS been, "Rather safe than sorry". What she has never seen, she does not know, and does not miss! YOU go running up and down trails and woods and paths, but leave that little baby at home and in a "clean" yard, where no other dogs have run around dropping any of their diseases....like parvo!!! |
Chilli is already 17 weeks old but he had the last shot a week ago so i guess we should wait one more week..that's what i was told.. He is eating dry food for last twenty days..and since he came to my place he is getting 100 grams per week |
Thank you guys too much!!! I will continue with the food until she is 16 weeks old. That's what I figured. In June she will be meeting another puppy that is two weeks older than her, which is my moms puppy. Slightly bigger. We will be moving back home but she will be 6 months then :) thank you guys!!! :) :) |
Is there a reason you want to stop the wet food or something? Bc you don't have to. If she likes it, you can keep feeding it. It's a more fresh / natural food than kibble is, which is more processed. On being outside, wait until her last shots are done. |
I've heard even though the wet food is good for them it builds up plaque faster. So that is my main concern of wanting to stop the wet food. The vet said the next shot which is April 22nd, is the rabies. So I'm assuming after that shot to start bringing her outside? |
