Vocalizing and ears. It's not so much of an info question as a curious question. I was told by the breeder how quiet her and her siblings were, and as Chewie comes out of her shell, she's not *that* quiet. She isn't a big barker, but she likes to talk- a lot. She has this cute little squeal when she sees us- and the length varies depending on who she's greeting. I get a medium length one, and my daughter gets a short one (for instance) She also will whine, she'll bark short and soft if my daughter isn't running fast enough for her, etc. I've heard that they bark, but I never thought she'd "talk" to us. Her ears in particular are so funny. she lays them flat when she sees us, and not in fear. She's suuuuuper happy and her tail is a mile a minute, and play bows. When she cuddles with me at night before bed, her ears lay down like a bunny rabbit. I love it when she sits down, (which led to the triangle teddy bear nickname) cocks her head to the side and one of her usually straight up ears flop down just on the tip. She also started burying her bones in our throw blankets. Not part of the thread, I thought I'd mention. She is so stinking cute, I don't think I've said that enough lol. |
"Talking" Two of mine "talk" up a storm. So much so that I now can not only understand the Yorkie language I can speak it too !!!! Love to hear them talk !!! |
My Ziva is a talker. She also has a beautiful "singing" voice- she started howling to the emergency sirens and I encouraged it! My son can't stand it but I find it adorable. Over the last 7 years we have really been able to understand her different speech. Her sister Abby - not so much, she sounds like a screeching parrot! |
Mine also is a talker! I love it! |
Chewie sounds adorable! It's so much fun watching their personality develop, isn't it? :) Max talks. He is like Astro or Scooby Doo. :D Sometimes he says "woof" softly and sounds just like a human. He makes throaty grunts, groans, and whines like he is trying to form words. Cracks me up! He has different barks that we have learned to decipher: one for pad clean up, one for meal time, and so on. |
All my guys talk and I encourage it ! I have an adult male (7yo) who can tell me exactly what he wants, and I get it right (most times). Who's training who ! My adult Female is coming along very well, Sneakers (M/7yo) is teaching her a lot better than I can. I'm assuming that we're talking about general verbalizations above... But when they are doing their "job", like keeping an eye/ear/nose out for my protection and territorial violations, I encourage them to really get with it. I count very heavily on their very reliable notifications. |
