looking for a teacup doll face yorkie puppy breeder 1 Attachment(s) Hello I am new to the forum I have 2 yorkies One baby teacup doll face 7 years old and a 19 year old standard teacup yorkie. I am looking for a puppy so that for my 7 year old has a playmate. :aimeeyork |
Teacup and doll face are adjectives used by disreputable breeders. There is only one breed of yorkie. Regular yorkie. The size, weight and hair type varies but there is only one breed. |

Are you in the UK? If so, try the Yorkie Club of England | The Yorkshire Terrier Club | or Kennel Club: The Home for Dog Owners and Those Working with Dogs: The Kennel Club also, do some research on why those phrases you have used are associated with bad breeders so that you're educated when you get your next Yorkie - if you need more help - let us know! |
Teacup etc These words are mainly used to get more money for the pups as they are more desired by some. |
Yeah just so you know "teacup" and "dollface" are the equivalent of cuss words around here. If you leave those adjectives out of your vocabulary, you'll get a lot better response in general. Take a look around the site and read some of the posts and you'll get an idea of why pretty quick. Other than that , welcome to YT! |
The Yorkshire Terrier Club will list breeders they consider reputable and would be a good place to start your search. You might consider talking with some folks at a dog show. Often people who show and breed Yorkies will have puppies or an older Yorkie they have shown and has had a litter and they would like to place it in a pet home. Good luck in finding a healthy pup for your home:D |
Your baby pic above is absolutely adorable!!! |

Excellent information!! I think I can safely say I agreed overwhelmingly with 99.9% of what is said! Excellent, informative, accurate...not published by obvious "haters" of breeders, trying to push out their own agenda....Excellent reference material, a MUST READ for anyone looking for a puppy and a breeder, especially with all the people buying from "puppy mill breeders" that are nothing more than scoundrels, thieves, and liars, off loading poorly bred puppies, on poorly informed consumers....a crooks dream!!!! Kind of like buying 24 K gold chains out of a car trunk in a parking lot at the gas station!!! To bad you can not post this in the margins of the YT site front page....so no one has to spend 30 seconds looking for it...it is "forever, permanently engraved in the margins" for anyone that is looking at the site for any reason!! Maybe like my navigation thingie in my new car, before you can pull up anything on that screen, you have to read about safety concerns, when and where you can and can not use the screen, etc.... This should be MANDATORY READING Ann!!! |

Consider reading through all the very useful information provided above on the term "teacup yorkie" and also through this helpful post: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/fea...ead-first.html Whatever you do, please don't be in a hurry and buy one from a 'backyard breeder' on Craigslist or Kijiji. Take your time and do your research. Yorkies are a very delicate breed. If you're looking specifically for a small sized Yorkie, know in advance all the serious health implications that may come with a small Yorkie that wasn't bred by a reputable breeder, where the an unethical / ill-informed breeder** risks unknown inherited diseases just to sell you a 'teacup doll-faced' Yorkie. These potential health issues can result in a lot of grief, emotionally and financially. At the end of the day, the puppies that were bred ignorantly this way who end up suffering are the most innocent. We just want to make sure everyone is aware and that the best way to prevent breeding sick puppies is to seek reputable breeders. **anyone who breeds two dogs can call themselves a "breeder"; it doesn't mean they know what they're doing or know the bloodlines and health history of the dogs they're breeding. |
^^Good post. Another thing, equally scary if not more scary, are backyard breeders who say they aren't breeders bc they are only doing it once. So they know next to nothing and are bringing lives into this world blindly. Not only that, but they will not and cannot have a health guarantee as they know nothing of their background, and will not hold themselves responsible if there is a health issue with the dogs. And when I say health issues, I mean years down the road, not within the first 48 hours or weeks or months. Many of the genetic conditions passed down don't show up for many years. |

EXACTLY!!!! Please, re-read this post until it is burned into your memory banks, indelibly! Eat, sleep, and dream this information....breathe it in, blow it out, and chew it up....commit it to permanent memory banks.... As far as Lorraine of Loriben Yorkies,....... Respectful, reputable, successful breeding/showing, well known...... I suggest you would do great with a baby from her..... stand in line for however long it takes.... |
Still need help. 1 Attachment(s) Hello Thank you to those people who welcomed me into the group. I am sorry I offended anybody with my lack of knowledge to the breeds proper name. I came here looking for help in finding a reputable breeder to find a playmate for my sweet Sophie I live in British Columbia, the Vancouver area. If I was looking for a puppy mill puppy I would have went to Craigslist. I am hoping that somebody out there has knowledge of good breeders in North America. Thank you Joy |
Breeder in BC In post 16 above Lorraine was suggested and she is a good breeder and in YT. As the poster said, Lorraine would give you leads if she did not have a dog herself. I doubt if you offended anyone, we just did not want you to pay extra to a breeder who used the terms just to increase the price. I for one did not know these descriptions were no nos until I came on YT! If Lorraine cannot help is there not a Canadian Kennel club you could ask. If you really want a small dog, they are unusual in litters from show or good breeders, but sometimes they throw a tiny and you might be lucky there. But when breeders breed for tinies they do it for money only, not for breeding the best. So you may get a dog with uncertain heritage. Good luck :) |
Welcome to YorkieTalk! I lived in Surrey for a year and loved it. We have some very great breeders on here and you came to the right place looking for a reputable breeder. I would recommend you look into Lorraine from BC. I believe she is from Abbotsford. Good luck! :) |
Thank you Thank you to all for the help in sending me in the right direction in finding a good breeder. Joy |

Glad to hear you're not going with Craigslist / Kijiji. I only mentioned it because that's the first thing that pops up when online searching for Yorkies. And those people often have pretty good stories lined up about what good breeders they themselves are. Here is a list of upcoming dog shows in BC: Canuck Dogs: Your source for Canadian dog event information online. You can take the opportunity to talk to a few breeders and see who has available puppies or at least point you in the right direction with recommendations. |

Good advice to ask Lorraine - also yikes senior moment here - Jacpots breeders name - mental gears turning I can see her face shikes oh I have a good idea look at the Westminster videos of Best of Breed judging for Yorkies - you can get the names of all the entries - good field lots of entries and sort through for a breeder near to you. The Westminster Kennel Club | Videos The Westminster Kennel Club | 2016 Breed Entries: Yorkshire Terrier link to the entry field Also isn't Washington D.C. bordering B.C.? A beautifull spring drive to pick up a puppy. |
Topknot a member here is a good breeder I think somewhere out your way but she is in the States. Hunderwood Kennels many top dogs there Tyava but I don't know where that kennel is exactly. |
Last piece of advice it is worth the wait for a puppy from a reputable breeder. |
