Feeding? So I usually feed Daisy at 8am, 12pm, 4pm and lastly 8pm. For the past couple days she seems to be not eating in the morning. She will eat about 1/2 of her food at 12, another 1/2 of her food at 4 but then the entire food at 8pm. I brought her to the vet today just to do a quick check up make sure she isn't loosing weight. Turns out she gained weight she's 3 pounds now. She is about 12 weeks old. She goes to the vet on the 22nd for her third round of shots :) Has anyone else experienced this? |
Mine won't eat early,in the morning. I put half a cup in her bowl and she eats what she wants when she wants. Its usually gone by 3pm. I put another half cup in for her and she nibbles on it. Sometimes she eats all of it and sometimes not. Her weight stays around 5.5lbs. |
I leave Ella's food out because she has always been a grazer and I do notice she eats much more in evening then any other time. She is around 3.4 pounds (fully grown). |
I do leave her food out but only for two hours max because i still mix wet food in with her crushed up dry food, but there is also a bowl that has dry food in it that stays out. I'm so happy that there are other people with puppies that don't eat in the morning. This is recent with daisy and got me worried. |
Oh I had a maltese for 17 years, she was the same way. My girls would rather lay in their beds in the morning lol! I don't think its a problem, my vet said its more about what their total intake is per day and as long as that is ok, she told me not to be concerned. Of course you can check in with your vet too, but sounds totally normal :) |

Having said all that... your pup is still 12 weeks. Probably want to just continue free feeding for now. She's a growing girl and gotta make sure she's getting enough nutrients when she's hungry. As long as she's gaining weight and not losing weight, she should be fine :) |
I still put food out on her normal schedule regardless if she doesnt eat it, she knows its there. Just 3 weeks ago she was 2.3 pounds so she has gained weight. It seems to be that she gains a pound every month since i got her at 1.5 pounds. Her personality hasn't changed just her eating habits. Still playful, full of energy and crazy so my worries have calmed down lol. Thank you to everyone :) |
