please help me on this. it's happening more frequently Lately my yorkie male bites and picks fight with my jack russel. A few weeks ago my yorkie started biting my jr. In this process he has bit my sister that she bleeds twice and he bit me. My jr doesn't fight back which is a good thing bcz he would kill my yorkie in an instant but i think soon he'll start to bite back. When i was on my bed watching a movie and jr was laying with me my yorkie jumped on the bed and immediately they jst went at each other. It can't be showing who's boss because we have two other male dogs and the fights only happen between my yorkie and jr. What do i do? |
I can kind of understand this a bit. When I brought my little yorkie home in 2014, I had two older JRs, both didn't know what to think of her and simply ran from her whenever she tries to play with them but as time went, she became best bud with the younger JR but complains and defiant to the older one. After her buddy passed away, she became more complaining towards the elder JR, but it's always been barking/yelling. Granted there has been a time or two that she looks excited at the potential that the old JR might play with her at times, but she almost never does. We had all girls, btw. Luckily I never had the problem of my little yorkie actually try to attack our old JR, but she'll almost get up from her bed and act like she wants to lol, but as soon as Chloe, our old JR, snaps at her she backs off (being put in her place). In my case I think it may have been somewhat taught since both our JRs have often had more aggressive tests of dominance and arguments with each other (it was a love/hate relationship). There's two things I'm seeing is he might be jealousy and, even if your yorkie only does it to that one, it can still be a domination thing (the JR may seem like more fair game to your yorkie). But also consider that like people, dogs can simply not like some other dogs, for whatever reason. I'm more leaning towards jealousy or may he just doesn't like the JR. Consider how much attention you give to them and even how you praise them. Either way, your yorkie is going to need some behavioral training or at least obedience training. There's lots of tutorial training online, but it's usually best to work with a trainer. If you decide to work with a trainer, always note how both of you feel about the trainer. If they use methods you don't agree with, find another. The show "it's me or the dog" with Victoria Stillwell has many great examples of home training. I highly recommend looking her up. I like her methods because they are very positive and non-aggressive. |
