the best part of St. Patricks day....the Yorkie float 1 Attachment(s) http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/att...1&d=1457897702 As I watch the Florida Yorkie Rescue float pass by, I can't imagine where a rescue Yorkie comes from. Are they taken from people? Are they abandoned? There are so many here looking for homes, I never realized. |
I follow the on insta, they post stories-it seems they even get a large amount of beautiful young dogs...not just older dogs with medical issues, which I know I have heard is the reason people give them up. |
Adorable float! :) It is heartbreaking the number of Yorkies who end up in rescue. Some are found on the streets, others are surrendered because of behavior (potty training challenges for instance), medical expenses, or just general care expenses. Some are surrendered because the family moves and doesn't want to take the dog, or because human babies enter the picture. Very sad. |
very sad and very grateful for everyone who volunteers, fosters or adopts these little darlings! |
I was also shocked to hear that some places have such a large number of Yorkie rescues. When I first wanted to get a Yorkie, I looked into rescues, but there weren't any local ones at all (which I guess is a good thing). |
