Yorkie hair I have a 2 year old tea cup yorkie and I have noticed that half of her hair is straight and the other half is curly. It's like her hair textures change right in the middle of her back. I've had people tell me that she's not pure bred but I've seen both parents and papers. I just feel like it's not normal. Does anyone else have a yorkie with 2 different hair textures? |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk. It's very common for Yorkies to have these kind of coat variations. The ideal Yorkie coat is one of the hardest to achieve in dog breeding. Your girl may have a combo coat, part silk and part soft/cotton coat. Curls near the rump are very common. It could be that the curls are from something as simple as not drying that area as thoroughly as the front after a bath. My younger boy tends to sit while I dry his hair and ends up with a somewhat curly look on his hind quarters. Usually the hair straightens once it is completely dry and combed out. |
Mine sits also when I dry her and the hair straightens out after I brush her when its completely dry. |
I had a yorkie once that had mostly straight hair and the other was mostly curly. My current girl has very straight hair on her head and most of her body is curly/wavy. I keep her body hair short with some length on her legs. When cut short the body is very straight, but she has curly leg hairs :p |
