Yorkie ate 1/4 stick of butter -- Help! Hi - I am new to Yorkie Forum and hoping for help. I'm very worried. My 7.5 pound 7 year old Yorkie ate about 1/4 stick of butter about 5 hours ago. My vet told me to call poison control and they said to give him hydrogen peroxide. He threw up 3 times about 7 minutes after I gave it to him which was about an hour after he ate the butter. Has this ever happened to anyone? I'm so worried ..... :( Thank you for any help. |
Try not to worry too much, everything will probably be just fine. How is everything this morning? |
I hope your baby is doing well today. Another member's Yorkie, about the same size as yours, ate a whole stick of butter this week! She was not within the timeframe to induce vomiting, but seems to be doing okay. Here is the thread:http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ml#post4620689 |
Poor little critter!!! I hope your little guy feels better soon! |
Yorkie ate butter Thank you all for responding! This was my first post. It's so nice to know other Yorkie lovers are so supportive. So far he seems to be ok. Acting himself. I'm only feeding him chicken and white rice as a precaution. Poison control says it could take up to 3 days for pancreatitis to develop and symptoms to show. I'm praying that doesn't happen. 😢 |
Did you see any butter-looking stuff in the vomit? An hour is withing time frame to expel it. When I have had to do the peroxide, I could clearly see the offending item (chocolate, in this case) in the fluid my dog threw up. |
Hi KairaPup: yes, I definitely saw the butter. It was a creamy (ugh) and the whole bathroom smelled of butter. The wrapper also came up to. He vomited just about one hour after eating it. |
Good. That will greatly reduce chances of pancreatitis. Hopefully, he got it all up and there's not a problem! |
I sure hope so. Thank you for sharing. Have a good night! |
