Hi everybody my name is Brandon and I am 15 years old, I am new to Yorkshire terriers but not to dogs.I am adopting what I think is a Australian Yorkie, cross between a Yorkie and Australian terrier, he is coming on Saturday and im so excited also he is 7 years old I went to visit him yesterday and I brought him for a walk, he is very active and hyper and is afraid of cats, one chased us on his walk.He comes with all the basics Bed,Food,Toys etc and a Hair trimmer so ill have to learn how to use that.When I was going home he didn't want me to leave and kept wanting me to rub him, he's so cute.He has long smooth hair.I'll post pics later and you guys can tell me if he is definitely a Australian Yorkie.:yorkiej:

I also own 4 Parrots, An African grey 8 years old and Two Cockatiels over a year old and a Plum headed parakeet 3 years old.

His owner told me he was born September 2010 so he is actually 5

Totally great that you're adopting and your little guy sounds like a lot of fun; I like that he's afraid of cats. What is your dog's name and how much does he weigh? I really like birds and have heard that African Greys are very smart, yes? I'm sure you know to be careful having the birds around the dog. Looking forward to pictures--I don't think I've ever seen the combo of Australian/Yorkie!

Wow, just saw pictures and he's great! I'll be he's very smart, too! Have fun with your new partner and keep us posted. If you have any questions at all, the people on this site are extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and caring; plus, no questions are dumb--believe me, I've asked a ton since getting my Piper!

HI Brandon! Welcome, how is everything in Ireland? Congrats in almost having that doggie! Like you were warned earlier, please please please be careful with this new dog and your birds. I have a 9 month puppy that hates my African Grey, my Grey is almost 6 years old. I do not want to scare you but these doggies are very fast ...hopefully your baby will be a good boy! I now cant take out my parrot out of his cage because my little girl yorkie goes crazy! Of course while she is there he does not come out... Good luck with you puppy he is beautiful!

His name is Pluto I am thinking of changing his name, I have a feeling he will miss his owner and I want him to have a fresh start.Name suggestions would be great.I don't know his weight I guess ill have to wait until he comes home to check.Yes African greys are very smart all parrots are.

I like the name Pluto, but you'll know what's best when you bring your new buddy into your home. And I also think you and he will have so much to do together that he won't miss his previous owner for too long. Curious though, why is Pluto being given up? I think he looks like a topnotch dog, for sure. I also think the two of you will make a really good team; he's lucky to have you!

His owner doesn't have time for him anymore because she has 3 young kids.He was so happy when I brought him for a walk.

Thanks.He's coming tomorrow just for a trial like I'm fostering him for a few days and then my mam has to decide if were gonna keep him or not, she did say shes not ready for another dog and she's still not over Rocky our Jack russell that was hit by a car 2 years ago and she still has nightmares of going through that red light to get to him.I have been depressed since Rocky died and I just sit in my room all day and having another dog will get me back to normal, the birds make me happy but they don't like to cuddle all the time like a dog would and dogs know how you feel and are always there for you.

You're absolutely right about dogs and I think Pluto would be the best medicine in the world for you. I'm so very sorry about the loss of your other dog and cannot imagine how horrible for your mam. But, you know what? I'll bet Pluto would help her heal, too. He's just such a cute little fellow. Best of luck!!!

We all loved him very much he was a great part of the family I just need to have hope that my mam will let Pluto stay.
