Limping Hi all I hope someone can give me advice, I got Lexi 13 months ago she was an unwanted Yorkie, I lost my Elliemae after 16.5 years and I loved her so much. Lexi is a lovely dog I am not sure how old she is about 6 the vet says, we take her out for walks every day and now she has a limp or walks on 3 legs it is her right hind leg, can anyone help me with might be the cause. That's awesome that you adopted an unwanted Yorkie! My best guess would be to get a wellness exam done by the vet to see if there's something causing her pain in her right hind leg. Was it recent that she is limping? So sad :( |
leg Hi all I did put on this message board before, I have Lexi i do not know how old she is the vet reckons about 6 years and I have had her a year and a half I take her out every day for about 2 miles and all of a sudden she is limping or walking on 3 legs please can someone advise me what is going on |
Luxating patella issue? There is medication you can give for issues with this...I would have it graded, and if it is less than a #4, I would just give Cosequin, or what my vet recommended, Glyco-Flex....they can start out on I then go to II then up to III for really painful joints...it is a wonderful thing and works very effectively at keeping your pups joints pain free.....you may be able to avoid surgery all together..... |
I JUST responded on your other post!! |
Whatever happened with Lexi limp? I have a yorkie 3 years old that had luxating patella issues and torn crucial ligaments... |
My little girl was diagnosed with LP before she was a year old. She was put on Dasaquin and it's worked very well for her, she's almost two now and still occasionally limps/buckles at the back (but that's mostly cause she's got fuzzy paws and we have no carpets). She always has a sort of hobbling, but when she wants to move she'll move pretty darn fast lol It could be what others say, but it might just be a pulled muscle. If the leg doesn't do well after a week I'd taker her to the vet for a check up. |
If the limp is ongoing, which it sounds like it is...then she does need to see the vet as this could be LP or something torn. If it's LP, ask for it to be graded (1 thru 4). |
