HELP!! Ready to give up & sell her for a nickle!! Okay.... here's the scoop! Tess is 10 weeks old and I've had her since she was 6 weeks. I understand that the first 2 weeks were kind of futile as far as housebreaking is concerned. She does GREAT at night. Doesn't ever wake me and really only did once or twice during the first week. Since then she never wakes up all night AND doesn't pee or poop. She holds it until morning and then goes right away when I take her outside. I left her today for over 2 hours and she didn't pee once. Went outside when we got home, pee'd ..... poo'd. GOOD GIRL!! She did this most of the day. Except for the 2 puddles I found later one. Don't know when that happened. How long does it take to housebreak these little beasts? (just kidding) I mean she is a sweet little thing although I think she is really a Rottie reincarnated as Yorkie. She is ferocious at times when she plays. I hope this doesn't turn out to be a snappy temperment and I am strict about biting on hands and stuff like that. But I digress..... Sorry to rant and rave and go on forever. I am just so tired all the time. I feel like I did when I had a baby. I am always watching the clock... when did I take her out last.... is she sniffing cause she has to go.... THANK HEAVENS she's finally asleep..... that kind of stuff. I actually took a nap today because I was exhausted. Thanks for listening to me. I'm sure my answer is, "Just be patient... she'll learn" I guess I want her to learn NOW! :D Anyway.. thanks for listening and have a great day !!! :) |
Oh, my yorkie definitely can be a little ferocious at times. When she doesn't know when to stop, I tap her on the head or butt and give her a FIRM "Bad dog, No!" and she puts her ears back and knows when enough is enough. And be sure to praise her when she does good things. Such as when she goes potty "Good girl/boy" and give a kiss. My dog has learned the potty training a lot quicker than i thought she would. :) |
Hang In there!! she is worth it!! every nickel... yorkies R yorkies!! you really must have the patience to love them and unconditionaly! They bite, chew, pee, & poo, it's a new world to them eveything is so new!! whats this? whats that? They are babys :aimeeyork you brought a baby home big responsibilty!! Have patience you both have to learn togeather.. Bonding with your baby bad & good ! It will pay off with such a grand reward.. :D good Luck |
I have a nickel......I HAVE A DIME!.......lol ANyway your puppy sounds like she is doing a wonderful job! Expect accidents for a month or two more!............ugh! I have a pup I recieved at 5 months, never had been outside......EVER! I was also told she was wee pad trained or paper trained..............NOT!!!!!!!!! My daughter is in love with her and wants to have her with her all day.......but this little girl is a "BEAST TO TRAIN" I truly beleive she thinks she is only supposed to potty inside, in the house......on the carpet, on the kitchen floor.......anywhere but outside!!!! I have a beagle who paws at the door to go out and the girl goes out too, with mama beagle, but............SHE GOES OUT TO PLAY! Long road here, but I havent gave up....................do you have a penny?.....hee hee |
We had Mocha for 15 1/2 years - the first year was ridiculous as far as potty training, but I blame a lot of that on our family's crazy scheule - running here & there. I would swear that Mocha would do her business as soon as we shut the door just to spite me! But then, finally, after about a year  she had it down. She was great the rest of her life, except for only an occassional accident. She would go to the backdoor & bark to go out & then bark to come in - sun, rain, snow, sleet, etc! Hang in there - it sounds like you are making progress. Count your blessings of a full night's sleep! :) |
I feel your pain. My daughters yorkie "Mia" is almost 4 months old. My daughter is at school all day so grandma (me) gets to baby sit. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind at all because she is a living doll, but since I have her most of the day I get to go through the same thing you are going through. Sometimes I feel like I spend over 50% of my day standing out in the yard saying, "come on Mia, peepee, please Mia peepee so we can go back inside where it is warm". Sometimes it happens and somtimes it doesn't. So just about the time I warm up inside, its shoes and coats back on and outside we go again. I think I repeat this process at least 15 times a day. I have 2 yorkies of my own. One is 9 the other 8 and they are 100% house broke. I did the same routine with them so I know it will eventually pay off. Just hang in there and be patient. You have probally heard the old saying, "it's not the dog that is house broke, it's the owner". Good Luck |
lol......... I'll give you 25 cents, that is more than fair since youre asking price is a nickel..... so when can i have her???? :p |
I'll give ya a dollar! |
dollar fifty ....... haha i win.... SOLD TO ME :p |
That's my luck a day late and a dollar short.....haha |
You all are wonderful!!! Thanks so much for cheering me up. After I wrote this post, the little stinker curled up in my lap then rolled over and gave me "the look". You know...... here's my belly....what are you waiting for.... go ahead.... scratch it..... ya know you want toooo..... I love her already so I guess I have to call the "auction" off. Sorry everyone. ;) I have some more pictures of her that I'm going to download soon. Littlelizzy: That truly could be me out in the front yard begging Tess to "hurry up and go potty"!!! When she is perfectly content to chew on leaves. Your post made me laugh. Glad to know someone else is experiencing the same thing. By the way.... I love the picture of your baby. He/she is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I know my Tess won't look like that since she is a mix, but I can't wait to see her fully grown and her hair changes and all. My sister has a Maltese that's a year old and she's been telling me the same thing you all have. HANG IN THERE! Her Bitsy used to pee and poo in the house so I'm glad mine is just a pee problem. She never poos inside anymore since the first week. This is my first puppy so it's all a little new. I'm sure we'll do just fine and from the sounds of it she is doing better than I thought. Thanks again for all your words of encouragement. |
i laughed so much at this post coz i can just picture it all lol i have the same here, sometimes im so exhausted that i sit on the couch and without knowing it i fall asleep... wake up a few minutes later and wonder WHERE THE DOGS ARE, theres a 6 month old lab and a 3,5 month old yorkie running around the place, yesterday i found the 2 of them eating my boots  told them im gonna put up a sign by the frontdoor " DOGS FREE OF CHARGE" and oh the training is so wonderful  specially when Chelsey is playing with my friends yorkie of the same age.... they forget EVERYTHING, while they playing we try the pee pad story to no avail... my friend and myself run around like raving lunitics to try and catch them before they sit down  how do u stay in condition? get urself a few puppies  |
hope your training pays off soon, however they are only little pees and poos :D not like a rottie or a dane :D good luck bobsy x |
