Helpp!! Daisy is about 7/8 weeks old (more 8 i think), acting normal, eating normal, everything. When she goes to the bathroom her stool is normal till the end. It becomes like a yellowish mucus. I've never experienced this in any of my other dogs. My vet opens at 8 so I will be giving them a call. She is on puppy-10month old royal canine wet food and her formula mixed with water. She drink water when she is thirsty. What could be the cause of this? |
She got her first round of shots on January 26th and dewormer. She got her second dewormer on February 9th. She does actually go to the vet this week (Thursday 2/18th) for her second round of shots and a check up. Could the dewormer be the cause of this? |

I'm not sure either. You could always call a 24 hour clinic, I have had good luck at times with them giving me limited advice on the phone. It might help you relax a little until your vet opens tomorrow. |
I called the vet and gave me little information on the phone. The system at my vet had Daisy in the system at 11 weeks old so when I told the vet I had her on formula still she was shocked. Told me she should be way passed formula. I had to stop her mid sentence and tell her there is no way Daisy is 11 weeks, thats impossible. They told me to keep an eye on it and if it continues then I need to bring her in asap. Well Daisy had another bowel movement and it was completely fine! No mucus no nothing. Which is strange, I would think it would happen again. I changed her vet appt. to Wednesday now because I'm a crazy mommy. I will definitely be updating everyone on her progress :) hopefully she gained a little more weight! |
Good! So glad she had a normal "poo";) . Now maybe you will be able to rest tonight after speaking with the vet and her solid stool. I am crazy mama too, if anything is not right with my babies I won't rest and I want it fixed right then, lol. I hope she has a great vet visit Wednesday, you are a trooper and a great mom to this precious little one! |
Mucus at the end of a poo can be the anal glands emptying, which can be a sign of GI irritation from whatever you're feeding her... |

UPDATE: I ended up bringing Daisy to the vet at 8:30 AM because she was having trouble pooping. She was trying to go for at least 20 minutes. To the point where she started bleeding. Vet was able to help her and gave me ointment to reduce the inflammation and redness. Along with laxatione so she can actually go. |
20 minutes! :eek: poooor baby!! I hope she's going to be okay with the meds that the vet prescribed! |
She's doing great! She was eating, drinking and playing normal from the start! So far the ointment is actually working great put it on once and already starting to clear up :) Hopefully everything goes back to normal quickly :) |

Second set of shots by 8 weeks of age is very, very early/young. I recommend you do research on when to give shots so they are effective. When vaccines are given at too young of an age, all they do is stress the immune system but do not build up proper immunity. Turns out the vet does not want to give her anymore shots just yet. The vet did put off the shots for another week and will check on her again in a week to see. Vet suggest that she is more 8/9 weeks because she is getting a lot more teeth and everything. She goes next week to see how everything from today went and we will move on from there :) |
