Help! My Yorkie is afraid of me sometimes! My yorkie Paisley will be 1 in less than a week- we have had her since she was 2 months old. We first noticed her acting strange after her rabies vaccine 6 months ago. She acted terrified of us and would ran and hide away- we called the vet and they stated that as long as she was still eating and not throwing up that she should be fine and to just monitor her. The next day she was better. Since then, she has had this erratic behavior 4 more times. Tonight, she was asleep in her bed while me and my fiancé were watching tv and we wanted her to come lay in our bed where she sleeps every night. She then ran away from us and has been afraid since. I was able to get her to come to me to take her potty but once we got back into the house she ran away. She has never been treated poorly or hit- I treat her like my child and she knows she can get away with anything lol it worries me that she has these episodes when she couldn't be anymore loved. Has anyone's yorkie ever acted this way? I don't think she has gone into heat yet- we have not gotten her spade yet. Please help!! Worried mommy. |
To me, it almost sounds like this kiddo is having some sort of pain and is running/hiding when she experiences this. Is her digestion / poos okay...? |

My Yorkie has done the same to my husband. He was fine one evening then suddenly became terrified of my husband. He ran upstairs and hid behind a pillow. I went after him and he came out to me but immediately went for cover once he saw my husband. My biggest concern was if my husband yelled or hurt him. But I was assured that no harm was done. So I told my husband to leave Danny alone and let him come out of his scared phase. Eventually he did the next day. But I do know how terrifying and sad it can be when you're Yorkie is afraid of you. i have no idea what startled Danny. He's been fine ever since |
Awe...poor Paisley. I really hope she's okay. Maybe since she's almost 1 years old, you can take her in for a wellness exam to make sure everything is okay and she's not in pain somehow. When I first got Scottie, he was quite fearful of everyone and everything. But gradually he warmed up to us. Now, if he's ever sick, he gives me the puppy eyes and telepathically tells me he's not well. The worst was the last time when he had a stomachache and diarrhea was coming soon; he followed me everywhere , sitting right beside my heel wherever I was...and we were at home! |
Piper is very sensitive and it doesn't take much to 'put her off.' I tell her everything is ok and then let her be...It doesn't take long for her to come around as she can't stand not being part of the action, as it were. Also, when she's being all sad and tragic and dramatic, I'll take her shopping because not only does it serve as a diversion, but it reminds Pipe that I'm her 'safety' in a sea of activity and strangers. I'm sure little Paisley has all the love and trust in the world for you, still. |
Are you sure it's you that she is afraid of and not your fiance? My Duchess is afraid of men in general. She loves women but men, it takes her awhile to warm up too. I think it's their voice. Men have much deeper voices. I think she is more afraid of their voices. |
