Annual exams Ok I have read all the replies on what to get for our Yorkies yearly check ups. I just took Ruger for his 1st birthday check up. All the vet did was, temp, listen to heart, weight, (6.6lds), check teeth, and check knees. Ai 16 months old the vet said to have his boosters which is parvo and distemper and about a month later his rabies. He has had all his puppy vaccinas and 1st rabies. I want to do the tieter testing too. The vet said since all his vaccines were done when he was a puppy he needs to have these boosters as an adult. After this rabies he can go to the 3 yr. one. Then we can tieter after that. All thoughts on my vets advice. I really hate all the vaccines that vets give to all dogs. But, as we know Yorkies are NOT regular dogs. 🐶 Thanks a bunch❗️ |

Your vet is correct that your kiddo does indeed need his puppy boosters before you choose some sort of an adult vaccine schedule. After the boosters, rabies is then by law of your state, which you're saying allows 3 years - so after the booster you can then wait 3 years for the next rabies. As far as dist/parvo - the compromise by the AAHA is that they should be given every 3 years, even though DOI is actually more thought to be around SEVEN years now. Here is more detailed info and a schedule for vaccines: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-overview.html |
