I am just wondering since these are senior yorkies, have you had any health problems with them? I met a lady about a year ago who said she would not have a Yorkie as they have too many health problems. I have not really heard that, and seeing how you said you had "senior" furkids, I thought I would ask. I have not been following the entire thread, but do you live on a farm? I live in the city, and three is the limit here. Thanks. Kate |
I don't know about any else's Yorkie but Muffie is 10-1/2 yrs and she's never had any health problems. She has bad teeth and that's probably our fault. We didn't know till about a month ago that we were supposed to be brushing her teeth. I'd never heard of that before. But she is going in for a teeth cleaning on Monday and most likely might have some front teeth pulled while there. |

medicine that Crystal gets is the first 3 days of every month, she gets 2 amoxicillin ea of those 3 days to protect the teeth she has left. I bet she would have all of them if I didn't have that growth removed from her gum that ended up being benign but I couldn't take the chance. Pat, I am so glad to hear little Muffie is doing so well. I think new owners will be glad to hear this is possible and look at Sadie who will be 15 in March. |
All I can say is our more Senior yorkies are just GORGEOUS ! Crystal is just a beauty and that new avatar is too cute with her in her outfits Joan....Muffies mom is getting a new one too and especially since her girlies went to the Beauty Parlor :D .... |

Hi Muffie We'll all be thinking of you Monday and hope you come back with nice shinny teeth. Pat, I'm sure the vet will take a look at the growth before surgery How did the groomer notice it.?? They start getting these growths and usually nothing to worry about unless they get larger. Crystal's was right above her front teeth, that's probably the only reason I noticed it. We'll be thinking of you Monday and pray it's nothing serious. |

Lo' and behold, I got to thinking as to whether we would be able to meet the Vet on Monday afternoon when we take Muffie in for her teeth cleaning procedure Tueday morning. It kept prying on my mind and I finally called them at 5:00 & said we'll be bringing Muffie in at 4 p.m. Monday and asked if we were going to be able to meet the doctor that will be doing the surgery. She said "Oh no, he only works in the morning!" I said "Do you really think if I brought Muffie in at 4 p.m. Monday for a dental procedure where she has to be put to sleept and we didn't get to see the doctor actually doing the surgery that I would leave her there?" I also said "You need to tell the front desk people to make sure that anyone bringing animals in for surgery that they at least MEET the vet that will be doing the surgery." That is when we made the Monday morning appointment to meet him. She was very appreciative of my suggestion, apologized and said she would make sure everyone is aware of this suggestion. She thought it was something that they should put into practice/ So we'll take her Monday morning about 10:15 to meet the vet as I want HIM personally to look at her teeth! Guess we'll be taking her back at 4:00 to leave her then. I couldn't believe it! I am sooooo glad that I finally called and asked. Keep Muffie in your prayers Tuesday morning. She won't be coming home till sometime Tuesday afternoon. |
