to be completely honest with you my female yorkie Emerald just loves her perch on the back of the couch, I honestly think she thinks she is on watch, I sit on the couch and the head goes on my shoulder, its funny to watch her she will snuggle in and the leg goes overthe edge, and thats her veg out spot. My Maltese Dutchess is the same way she loves the back of the couch as well, but then again she thinks she is royality, and that is her throne, and we are the mere servants that are to her beck and call

This poor little girl left the only home she knew..good or bad and she is depressed. She doesn't know if you are good or bad or if the other dogs will hurt her. She must be wondering what happened to her first mom. Given time and alot of patience she will come around. She also might not have been very socialized in her first home or had alot of contact with people so she is just frightened. For some of the older dogs it is fairly easy but for some it takes awhile. I have one that has taken over a year to get her to stay in the family room with the rest of the gang. She was a breeder dog that was dumped in the desert when they were done with her. You just need to give her some space and no fast movements around her. Do you have a kennel for her that she can go in if she wants? The other lady might have kept her in a cage a large portion of her life. Mine like to go into a kennel with the door left open. They feel more secure.

the lady said she had never been crated. i know she was socialized because he stayed in the house with a lot of other dogs. Maltese and yorkies. the lady said her husband played with her a lot and she loved him. This lady had such a huge kennel, I don't know how she even knew what she had. She had purchased a huge mobile home and stripped it all but the appliances and made a dog house out of it. She had two rows of wire crates. That is where a lot of her show dogs were. I saw yorkies and poodles in there. It was clean, no odor and the dogs looked well taken care of. The crates were the kind that has the wire bottom up off the floor. They all had water bottles. My baby was there when I got there to pick her up but she said she had only placed her there when we told her we were on our way because of her husband. She said he was really having a hard time letting go. But, you never know about what people are telling you. She was honest in that she told us she was 'culling" her female breeders and that she usually does this around five years old. My dog will be five in March. She sold three or four more females the same day I got mine. Whatever it was, I still think it is mean to raise a little dog then just get rid of it after all those years. Course I am not a breeder and i guess that is the way most of them do. My husband is a breeder and he does the same thing

I assume she is "culling" her females are they are to old to breed at that age IMO and I am also guessing your little girl lived in that trailer whatever the breeder told you. :eek:
Actually this breeder is doing her breeding stock a favor by finding them new homes where they will be loved instead of living in a trailer. Their days of breeding are over and now they can rest and get individual attention.

Sorry I didnt mean to offend. I guess i didnt get your entire post just noticed mine does the same type of thing. I hope your little girl gets better and as everyone is saying I'm sure if you just give her all your love she'll get better. I am learning how interesting these little dogs are. Good luck.

She had kept her to show but it didn't work out so she started breeding her. She has only had two litters. I am hoping to get one litter from her and Ceeby this coming summer. Actually the trailer was a nice set up. It had heat and all the conforts some of the breeders on here have when they build their "kennels". Some people build better dog houses than the house they live in. I have seen it and no one could complain about the dog's living conditions. They were well taken care of as were this lady's. It looked like she spent a lot of time out there. The dogs were well groomed, well fed and clean. The trailor was spotless.
