Licking the floor Hi all... I have learned that our little ones can do many things we can with out consequence.....but I think licking the floor (in our homes has got to be a problem) Does anyone else Yorkie lick there floors.....if yes do you stop them and if yes how? Thanks Tina |
Only if I drop something and don't clean it up......then Zoey would rush to the spot and lick it up, other than that, no she doesn't ordinarily lick the floor. But then again, don't most dogs smell and lick everything and anything, whether is't on the ground, floor or otherwise. I mean isn't that what dogs do ( much to our dismay) LOL !!! |

Any ideas please let me know.....as it is I put the ex pen across that part of the kitchen so she can't get there. Thanks Tina |
I understand your concern......I don't let Zoey go foraging outside either because I am afraid of what she could pick-up from the ground ie....bird poop, cat poop (they don't always bury it deep enough) etc.etc. And I guess people do bring in bactaria on their shoes no matter how much you clean your floors. So our little ones are in constant danger of picking up something that could harm them. I must admit I don't really know how much everyday germs and bacteria affect these babes when they have their tongues to the floor. I guess I need to research the subject . |
I have never seen a dog lick the floor unless it was licking up some food. Do you ever use chemicals on your floor? I see you use a steam mop. That should kill any bacteria if it is hot enough to produce steam that actually hits your floor. Maybe something is being tracked in on people's shoes? There must be something that attracts them to it. Animals that lick things for no apparent reason can be lacking in some nutrient. |
