Cold winter I am trying to get my husband to understand it is too cold for our Yorkie to be sleeping in a crate on the floor with our temps are 23 degrees at night. Even with a nice thick sheep skin bed with a blanket. He likes to keep the thermostat at 66-67. If no more than 68. She and I will be sleeping in our guest BR in our sleep comfort bed. :aimeeyork |
Yeah, that's pretty cold. You could by your kiddo a warming bed, which plugs in and stays warm... |
Thank you. |
PJs can help as well |
We are much warmer but the tile floors can be cool- I put a folded bathmat under the crate to seal against dampness. It is also quieter and prevents slipping when they run into the crates. Then all their comfy bedding and fleece blankies! |
I would be like you, in the spare bedroom I would go. Mine sleeps in our beds, on cold nights I still put pajamas on them, I also keep one of Presley's blankets on the bed and through the night I will feel his ears to see if he feels cold, if he does I cover him in his blanket. It's easier for me to have his blanket right there because most of the time he is sleeping on my pillow by my head:D |
When it gets that cold and colder here you can bet that Gracie will be in our bed under the covers soaking up all the body heat at night. She wears her pajamas, a shirt or some article of clothing around home because our floors are so cold and she is right down there close to them when she is not sitting in someone's lap! She is a little heat seeker. |
They're so sweet and so little that it takes absolutely no effort to make them supremely comfortable--in any and all aspects of their lives! |
Ruger comes right up to neck, starts his "making his bed", then right under the covers he goes. He sleeps close up to me & it's so nice. It's snuggle weather people take advantage of it. |
Buddybear has about 6 sweaters he wears day and night......not all at once. We also has a doggie heating pad in one of his beds. I also have made a few rice bags in flannel that I can microwave for another spot in the house. His favorite place is on my husband's lap cause he has lots of body heat to share. Bud sleeps on top of our bed near our feet most nights. We didn't let him sleep with us until he was about a year old. What a difference it has made in his attitude! More loving than before. Good luck. |

He LOVES it! I got instructions on the Internet a few years ago. They all have held up well. |

Decide how big you want it and what shape, square rectangle, etc ..... lay two pieces right sides together......sew all three sides together and about 1/2 of the last side. Turn right sides out, pour in a few cups of inexpensive white rice, dont over fill, just about 1/2 the bag full. Now s e w up the opening either by hand or machine. You can also use corn feed l ike you u s e for chickens, not regular popcorn! Microwave for 1 minute or 2 as it depends on how much you put into your bag. These can get extremely hot so beware you don't burn yourself or your Yorkie. They are great for cold feet too. |
That is pretty cold, Chloe sleeps with us in a heated waterbed and she also has her blanket. If my husband didn't want Cloe in bed I would put him on the couch lol. |
BuddyBear--thank you very much. I may heat one to take in car when I head off to work at midnight, as that will help take the chill off...! Appreciate your very clear and helpful directions!! Note to self--do not use popcorn kernels for filler (too cute and funny) |

Zeusy is snuggled right beside me either over the covers or under the covers, and that is where he will stay until one of us leaves this world. My husband is all for him sleeping with "us," however, us seems to be me! As far as clothes, he tries to chew on them if we leave them on him for long periods. He wears his Thundershirt in the car in summer (or during storms) and a Thundersweater in the car in winter. I tried to put his Alabama Crimson Tide jersey on him for our big win in the National Championship game, and he started chewing on it in the first quarter. He definitely likes human contact and blankets better than clothes! |
Zeusy has got a handle on how to handle the cold...gotta love a lad who knows what he wants--and how to get it!!! |

Cindy 17, I think that was one of the best games ever. I think the players on both sides exhibited good sportsmanship, and there wasn't any bad stuff going on -- just good football. I was surprised we came out on top, but of course, thrilled. I think Clemson did great, and please beat Auburn in your opener this year! As for Zeusy, I think he only wants to wear the Thunder clothes. He doesn't care if it's a shirt or the sweater, but he never tries to get those off -- just other sweaters and shirts. Maybe they are more comforting to him than I realize. |
