Question for other Biewer owners Do your Biewers have VERY thick hair? I wasn't expecting Lacy's hair to be so darn thick. Completely different from my two Yorkie's hair which was really easy to manage. Lacy's coat is so thick it is so much more difficult to keep tangle free. Am just curious if all Biewers have these thick coats? Thanks! |
Hair Sharon, Not all Biewers have thick hair or silky hair. You dog has puppy coat right now. Not really a good indicator of adult coat. Use a good shampoo and conditioner and brush on her for now. Always use a grooming spray whenever you brush her. |

My Ollie has a very, very thick cotton coat and Bella has very fine silky coat. Very different. Both Registered Biewer to Biewer. |

A Biewer or Yorkie coat texture is mostly determined genetically according to the ancestors. You can have a litter of pups and a pup may have different coat texture. There are many different shampoos/conditioners out there. Chris Christensen has some fabulous products. I specifically like Ice on Ice Detangler for brushing dogs daily. Sharon, Puppies usually start growing their adult coats around 9-11 months. The products I use are by Chris Christensen: White on White shampoo and conditioner. De-mat Pro. I use Chris' wooden peg brush A 040 and 041. |

I have both the small and regular CC wooden pin brushes for Katie. She has a beautiful silk coat, but it is also very thick and hot for her. I need to use a comb, as well, because a wooden pin brush misses some tangles. I also have the CC gold pin brush (suggested by Gemy) and a Madan brush from Jenny. The wooden pin brushes are amazing; I use them on my own hair, and it's also very gentle for Katie when I use either of them. I prefer the smaller size, especially for the face and legs, but for these areas I also use a CC #6 buttercomb or aMadan mustache comb, which is one third the cost of the CC one. I love the CC #12 comb also, and I use that one a lot. I would not hesitate to buy the Madan brushes or combs, though, and Jenny is wonderful to purchase from. As long as you also use a comb or other gentle pin brush with the CC wooden pin brushes, I think you will love them. toplinepet.com |
1 Attachment(s) This is the difference in sizes between the brushes. The blue pin brush is the Madan. The gold one is the 27mm one and the small wood brush is 7.5 inches, and the large one is 8.5 inches. |
Yes Sharon I use the detangler. But the one I like mostly is De-Mat pro. |
