can my seven months old yorkie start mating? 1 Attachment(s) Hi everyone my puppy is very stressed I think he is ready to start mating but I dont know if he is ready at seven months old what would you suggest me to do? should I get him a female in her heat cycle? I have a female yorkie too but she is only 5 months old I dont think that would work... Thanks in advance! :animal-pa Left a Photo of him attached his name is Halo :p named him after the video game lol:aimeeyork |
Both your pups are to young to be mated. My suggestion to you is get both fixed. Breeding dogs is not an inexpensive hobby and could endanger your female's life she is way too young and probably not had her first heat. Hope you are able to listen to what I have to say. I chose to not breed and yes it did cross my mind. Lynn PS what a cute pup |

Halo is adorable! Your female is definitely too young to mate. Males do not experience general stress to mate unless they smell a female in heat. Mating him will not relieve any kind of stress, if that is your goal. Weigh the pros and cons of breeding before you take that big step. Keep in mind that the actual mating process can be physically dangerous for your dogs and there are risks of sexually transmitted diseases. Then there is the expense of vet care for the pregnant female and pups. Lots to think about and learn before jumping in. |

There are SO many unwanted animals in this world. PLEASE do not breed inconspicuously like this... |
You should go through other posts on here about breeding. You'll learn lots! Hopefully you'll decide not to, but if we can't change your mind at least you'll really understand the risks... |
When a male breeds or becomes sexually active, he also starts hiking his leg to pee on every piece of furniture, walls, etc in your house and yard....marking HIS territory. Dogs do not have the capacity of thought to see what is going to be in their future....he is not looking forward to start breeding, unless there is a female in heat, and if he is not old enough to be sexually matured (usually around 8-10 months of age), he wont be triggered to mate a female coming into season.....it is all triggered strictly by hormones, not wants and wishes by either the male or the female....they have no concept of what they have never experienced....your little male is not thinking he is just about a "full growed man" and needs to be sowing his oats! Go into every breeding with your dogs, with the reality that it may very well cost you the life of your female, or the puppies, or the entire shooting match. If you are not breeding quality, show bound dogs, dont go there. |

Keeping these terriers entertained is challenging. :) If it were up to my boys, they would be on the go all day, every day. |
Please neuter your male and spay your female you would be greatful you did. Please listen to the breeders on this site. Susan |
