Brand new momma here I am new to the blog family and a brand new owner of a 6 week old male. Today is our 3 day home and I noticed he has a flea on him. I tried to pick the flea off of him but as you all know it's hard to do on a wiggly little one. I read somewhere online that I could use dawn dish soap. I know flea medicated products are to harsh for him right now. Please help! |
Welcome to YT, I never had a puppy as young as 6 weeks old, if it were me, I would call my vet to see what I could use on a baby as young as 6 weeks. If you bathe him dry him well and right away so he doesn't get cold. I would be very, very careful with this puppy,at 6 weeks old he has had no puppy shots get. |
Congratulations on your new baby! I agree with Matese, because he is very young, be careful what you use on him. I have used organic coconut oil to slow down the fleas to catch them when I spot one. It's safe if your pup licks it. Just don't get it in the eyes. I use it on my own skin and found that it stings if I accidentally rub a little in my eyes. Regular dog shampoo is enough for the bath. Apply generously, gently massaging, and let it sit. |
Hi and welcome to YT :)! |
Welcome to the group, and congrats on your new puppy. Wow, 6 weeks is sure young to be bringing a puppy home. As Matese said, I would call your vet and ask what to use on him. Good luck! |
