Toy destroyer Does anyone know of some toys that my Yorkie can't destroy? He chews every toy I buy him. Cloth toys w/squeakers, he gets the squeakers out, rope toys he eats the strings, rubber & plastic toys he chews up. Stuffed toys, stuffing everywhere. Currently I'm letting him chew the hard plastic teething ones. He chews real hard, so I won't let him out of my sight when he has one. They get all pickley so hope ok to swallow. Thanks |
The hard plastic toys that end up with prickly things -- I quit using those with my boys because I worried about them swallowing the tiny shards. I made my boys' soft toys that they cannot destroy. The material is a tightly woven soft poly-cotton blend. I bought Kong squeakers and stuffing to put in them. They aren't pretty or fancy, but they have lasted years with my aggressive chewers. :) Squares, tubes, and bone shapes. They love them for fetch and chewing. |
The boys also like water bottles tied up in tube socks, although Max has started chewing on the bottle necks. I have watch him with those. |
Fill a cereal bowl with water about 1/2 way, freeze, then give frozen disc to your little demolition man! |
I have never had a real aggressive chewer, but my son has a couple bigger dogs that destroy everything - except Kong brand toys. Maybe these would be a good option for your little one. I just bought my 2 the tiny & small Kongs that you can stuff with a treat. I bought the Kong Ziggies & put 1 in with only a small amount sticking out & then when they cannot get anymore of it out I pick them up for the day. I get these at Petsmart but I am sure they sell them in most pet stores. By recommendations here, I also purchased the C.E.T. oral hygiene chews & I just give them each a partial one each day. I know it is not a toy, but I feel it really helps with the need to chew plus they are great for their teeth. I had to purchase these on line. I bought 2 bags & they will probably last us a couple months. They come 30 in a pkg. My 2 babies LOVE both of these - their favorite treats. |
Kong -- the "Extreme" Kongs, usually black color, are the best for aggressive chewers, although my youngest figured out how to chew the top lip of the classic style one. grrr |
Thanks everyone for your feedback. I have a couple of kong stuffers. I put frozen pumpkin, frozen yogurt, dried sweet potatoes, his kibble in it and he loves it. But, he only wants to eat out of it & not chew the Kong.. He received a Kong wobble ball with the streamers on it. He has already chewed into it down to the rubber ball inside. Help! I don't want to give bully sticks or any rawhide. I know the CET dental chews are good, but, he can't have them all day long. help! |

My daughters Yorkie chews up toys too. She can tear the squeaker and stuffing out of a toy in a minute flat. When she comes over, we have to pick up all the toys. We found a knobby football with a squeaker at PetSmart that she hasn't been able to tear up so far (that was one of ours but my fur babies didn't really play with it). She plays with it all the time and has had it now for about a month. My daughter just bought her another squeaky toy last week at PetSmart and its made from a fire hose.(really tough material) So far she hasn't been able to tear that one up either. |
Toto is a crazy man when it comes to toys and balls. He will kill everything! The only balls I have found he can't kill are the JW ones from Petsmart and one of our members here Alldogboots sells these rubber balls with funny faces on them. They are very soft but somehow never break. I literally had to use an awl to kill the squeaker bc it was driving me nuts. |
