Newbie to Yorkies Hi there. Yes I have just joined and No I don't have my Yorkie yet. Waiting another 2 weeks. Any help or suggestions you may have to help this newbie out would be greatly appreciated. I have had poodles growing up and as an adult- a lab mix. and cairn terrier. So starting a new journey with one so small will be an adventure. I am a retired teacher and live on Cape Cod. |

Welcome to YT and HAPPY NEW YEAR, congratulations on you soon to be new little baby. I suggest in the next 2 weeks read all that you can on the yorkie breed. They are truly loving mischievous little imps, trouble is their middle name. You will soon find out owning a yorkie is unlike any breed you have ever had lol. Your baby will bring you many belly laughs, they are very entertaining but very mischievous, start baby proofing your home now, and do read all you can on the breed. |
I always recommend "Yorkies For Dummies"....it is a super source of information! I recommend it to all my new yorkie parents! You are going to be totally enamored with your new baby....not like any dog you have ever owned......yorkies own YOU!! You are in for the greatest adventure of your life! Congratulations on your selection of this remarkable breed! I always ask my owners what made them decide on selecting a yorkie? |
Welcome from Arizona. I'm a first time Yorkie owner also. Buddybear is 17 months old and the love of my life even though I have to share him with my husband, who he seems to prefer on many occasions especially in the man cave. |
Welcome to YorkieTalk, you are in for a great adventure and a whole lot of fun with your new baby. Enjoy!!! |
Hi and welcome! This would be a good read for you: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...ent-guide.html |
Pee Pads and outside Hi again. Thanks for the good advice. I'm reading everything you suggested. Now for another question?? can these little ones be trained to use both pee pads and go outside when taken. I live on Cape Cod and if our winter is like last year with 3 feet outside my back door there is no way I', going out there but if we avoid the bad stuff I will be able to continue outside potty training. Any ideas?? and what about that Doggie Apartment. My breeder has mentioned that that can be successful? |
