Hi I have 2 male Yorkie puppies who will be 8 mo tomorrow. They were okay being held when we had them at 9 weeks old, but after a few months Gizmo started to back-up / move away if I tried to pick him up. When I did pick him up all his legs would go stiff and they would shake if all paws weren't in contact with something (like my arm). I started respecting his wishes not to pick him up but just give him the belly rubs he wanted, then last month he stopped backing away when asking for attention and doesn't go stiff when held anymore. So just give your puppy his time and his space.
BTW his brother never bats an eyelid at being held, but he's not a scaredy-cat like Gizmo! |
