Odd behavior Cali is doing something very odd tonight. She has had two fits of sudden hyperactivity (running frantically around, at times even hitting things as she's running) and then all of a sudden just stops and is very still. When she stops she comes to a complete halt and lays flat with her legs splayed out. What in the world?? |
Could she have seen a rodent? Or something to that nature? My Oscar is on the constant run. So I'm used to him just being hyper active. Maybe she's not well? I remember when he had something in his ear, he would run, stop and throw himself flat on the ground. He couldn't relax, because it was bothering him. It was only when he started pressing his ear to the ground and carried on running (He looked like a Hoover when he did this) That I realised it was his ear. Could something similar be causing it? Sorry, I don't sound like much help. I hope she's okay. |
LOL, in my house we call that ( The MAD Dogs ) or ( The CRAZYs ) I think Cali is just feeling frisky. |
It's technically called....THE ZOOMIES :D! |

It's kind of fun to watch but when it happened the first time, I was bit... startled too. LOL |
We call it THE ZOOMIES! Lol |
Oh good! We were worried it was some kind of abnormal seizure! LOL |
1 Attachment(s) After rolling in something horrendously horrible, I gave Piper a quick smell-um good bath. When finished toweling her off, Piper went ca-razzzy! Running around the house about 90 mph, jumping on/off furniture, crashing into things a couple of times...I mean she was on warp speed and out of her little mind zoom-y! Scary and funny to watch all at the same time! When she settled down after about 5-10 minutes, she just kinda passed-out. Silly, goofy, inexplicable critters we have here...! |
I don't know why I didn't think of the zoomies! For me, Oscar just runs all day long. He only stops when he's napping. I've gotten so used to it, that I just don't think much of it haha. But he never really stops. He will just run, and run, and run lol. Even the staff at his doggy day care have said, how amazed they are, that he just never stops lol (He only goes there when I have to run errands) |
Is there any possibility of her coming into contact with any kind of accelerating substance? I know a person who's miniatureschnauzer had chewed on a no doze pill it found on the floor and would do the same thing. Run wild them stop and flatten body and ears and look freaked out and start all over. I suggested milk ( not a whole lot but enough to coat their stomach) and it worked to bring him out of it. Took about 15 min. |
Sounds a bit like "why" I named my pup Zippy! Zip, zip, zip around the house and then just stops and wags his tail. |
