winter coat advice Hi, Does anyone else's yorkie, get "knots" "clumps of hair" around their nose around "winter coat" stage? Mine has this and I'm not sure how do deal with it weather I should cut them out like I would any other knots in her coat? Help please x p.s it's nearly christmas so can't afford to pay the prices of local groomers untill after. Thanks x |
You could try washing & using cream rinse to see if that will help comb it out but if that doesn't work you could pick up a pair of safety scissors with rounded tips and try to gently as possible cut the knots. Yorkies are pretty easy to groom at home if you are patient and careful if you want to save money in the long run after purchasing grooming supplies. I found good advice here at Yorkietalk on the subject. I use a battery powered Wahl Peanut for feet & sensitive areas and special toe nail clippers with a safety stop to prevent cutting the nails too much. Good luck. |
No - I don't see any changes in their coats during the seasons really, so I'm not totally sure what you're seeing here... |

I will try with conditioner, to improve her coat in general, but she's brushed every day, but where she is still a puppy and she's malting her black hair, this then tangles in her grey, white and gold hair, and when she's excited she has a habit of rubbing her face/body on the carpet, and after a bath time, she doesn't like to be dried by being hugged or rubbed in the towel, and the hair dryer is a Deffo no no, so after she's been rubbed down a bit with the towel, I put that and another towel long ways on the floor and she drys herself, by rubbing herself along the towels. |
