Nylabone healthy edibles Ok, I have searched the threads on edible chews. Nothing really convincing. My almost 1 yr. male yorkie 6.6 lbs. chews everything to pieces. Toys last about 1 hour. He chews the the squeakers right out. He chews ropes into strings. I mean everything. I have to pull stuff out of his mouth constantly. Thank goodness he never chews furniture or tables, etc. Just bought a twin pack of bacon flavored Nyla bone edibles, but haven't opened them yet. These things really scare me with yorkie. I never give him chew toys unless I watch him. But, anyone think these are bad & harmful? I need help on what he can chew @ ingest & lasts longer than a minute. Thanks to all that will reply with knowledge. |
Mario gets one of these after every bath; however, they do not last much longer than a few minutes. They are not nylon, they are more like a large formed biscuit that does not crumble quite as much. |
When I was at the pet store last week and asked for healthy chews, the clerk recommended Red Barn Natural Bully Sticks. She said they are not like rawhide at all, which of course is very dangerous for dogs. I bought a few Bully Sticks, and gave one to Lacy, and she LOVES it. She has spent at least three hours today chewing on it. Great thing is, maybe 5% of it is gone, they last a long time, and I think it was only about $3.00. Why don't you try a Bully Stick? |
If you go with bully sticks, please do your research first. They are a cow by product and may harbor bacteria. There are both sides expressed for you to read at the link I am giving. https://www.google.com/webhp?sourcei...tick%20dangers |

Bottom line, if you’re able to get past the psychological barrier of feeding your dog a bully stick after knowing what they’re made from, look for a brand you trust, wash your hands after handling them, and adjust your dog’s diet to compensate for the additional calories their getting. |

Would a chew like this fracture teeth? I'm @ my wits end trying to find him something safe, not a lot of calories, not rawhide, & will last. He doesn't have any toys that's worth playing with anymore. Little stinker. 😤 |

Would you mind telling me what grade, if you know, that you buy for your baby. Also, mine is what I call a very aggressive chewer. I worry so much on chocking or breaking teeth. Where do you buy yours? Thanks so much for your help Sharon |
I am pretty sure ours is a grade A elk antler, but we got it a few years ago, so not sure. I bought it on Amazon, that I do remember. I live in the sticks, so mostly online ordering. Okay, here is the link where I got ours from. We got for another dog and Mario inherited it: |
Cody will eat anything and I mean anything, he is not a fussy boy. Cody's prev. owner I have to assume never gave him anything to chew on, so last year I went on a quest and purchased several chews for him, one was an antler, I was Leary about getting it 1- it was HARD. 2- I was afraid he would put an eye out holding it between he paws as dogs do, do. 3- Did I mention it was HARD. I came home, was all excited to give him this antler and see what his reaction was. Well his reaction was ZERO, he looked at me as if to say WTH is this and walked away from it. I kept it in his toy box for a while, thought he would get interested in it, NOTHING, so I trashed it. If Cody refused it I figure it couldn't be all that delish, I was glad cos the thought of him putting out an eye was a scary thing, or if he liked it and would toss it around it could break a window, did I mention it was HARD I would be scared of teeth breakage. Can't remember what kind of antler it was, Pet Supply carries antlers the one I got was from a animal feed store and was nothing like the chain pet stores carry. |

Marios antler sure seems hard to me too (no I did not bite it ;) ), but it has never splintered. He just scrapes surface material off it, but no signs of chipping or splintering so far. |
