Jake rushed to hospital monday nite Never a dull moment with Jake he is 7 months and got bit in the face at puppy class last month , rushed to hospital a few months ago because he ingested something and was throwing up ,tested positive for giardia and anaplasmosis and now he was rushed to animal hospital monday night his face and body was unsteady and wobbly he was fine that day crazy hyper like always they did blood work everything looked good, xray didnt show injury except that he has a foreign object in his intestines they think it is metalic. Stayed in hospital overnight with IV next morning he was back to hyper jack. The next day they did the barium test to see if the object would pass but did not . So now I am waiting to see if it passes if it does not he is going in for surgery to remove it . Very Worried doggie mom :( |
Oh no, I am so sorry to hear about Jake. What a stressful time you have been through with him. I pray he will pass this object in his stool, and be better soon, please keep us informed of how he is doing. Am wishing you the very best! |
So sorry! I know you are a nervous wreck! I hope everything is okay! |
Oh my goodness, you must be so worried, Jake has been through so much, my thoughts are with you and Jake for a speedy recovery. Hugs to Jake. |
Omgoodness his puppy hood has not been easy. Wishing you and your baby all the best. Keep us updated please. |
Oh dear :( I am so sorry. I hope everything goes well and that it passes naturally. |
Oh gosh, I hope it passes :(! But also, what was determined as the cause of the wobbliness? Low blood sugar or...? |
Jakes wobbly issue Strangely his blood work looked good his glucose was normal and xray did not show any injury . The IV Fluid seem to have resolved that issue but still not exactly sure what caused that and It has not happened again. The emergancy vet mentioned liver shunt but my vet disagreed his liver looked good on the xray and his liver values looked fine and he weights 7 lb. |
So sorry to hear this about little Jake. Wishing him the best possible outcome. :getwellso |
What to expect after Jake has object removal surgery? Anyone one else go through object retrieval surgery with there dog? I am trying to get an idea what I am up against after the surgery was going to have jake stay at a Emergancy hospital AMC nashua so he can be monitored. Starting to get nervous surgery is this Thursday for My Buddy Jake. |
Jake is doing well after surgery 7 days later They took out a small piece of wire ended up in abdomen instead of intestines thankfully ,they neutered him and removed 4 baby teeth. Toughest part is keeping him from running, jumping and getting at his incision. even with the collar on I found putting a baby onesie helped alot. The meds are helping also. He is one tough guy ..... |
So happy to read that little Jake is alright :D:thumbup:! |
I\'m happy to hear surgery went well and that the foreign object was removed successfully. Wishing Jake a speedy recovery. Keeping these little guys on restricted activity is tough! |
jakes recovery 1st day back to Dog Sitter Well Just called his dog sitter to check on him and 1st day back he cracked his cone jumped off the couch cuz another dog was in his dog bed and dragged the dog and the bed around the room . I would say 1st day back to dog sitter went well "not" It has only been a week. Maybe I need to send him to a place were he will be crated for a few weeks ? |
Jake needs some "down time", either in a crate or a playpen.....my friend had a Jack Russell that hung himself jumping from the couch to the floor, with one of those surgery collars on....got it hung up on the wood work on the arm, like a rattan sofa or something....Jake needs to be closely supervised at all times actually, with his medical history!!! |
