He waits til she gets spayed? Toby has never tried to hump Madlyn. Never. He only gets intimate with balled up or folded blankets. I just got Madlyn spayed yesterday, and I let her out of the kennel for a few minutes and he tried to hump her! He's attempted this three more times since then. So if she's not laying beside me or in my lap she's kenneled, so she stays confined for her stitches and so she doesn't have an overgrown terrorist manhandling her in her delicate state. Why on earth would he wait til now to show interest in her? I'm perplexed on this one... They had to remove two teeth during the process. Poor baby. She's handling better than I would that's for damn sure. |
Might be bc her body is now going through some hormonal changes or something...? Just keep redirecting him to something appropriate to hump and hopefully this will subside... |
Well I've never encouraged the humping... I usually just put my hand on his rump and firmly press down and tell him No sir! and he usually settles and just gnaws on the blanket until it's wet and then gets distracted. Until now it's alwys worked. At least that I know of. Hopefully this will pass |
MEN!!! That is always first and foremost in their minds and he is trying to show her what she is missing now!!! |

Toby might also smell lots of different scents from her being at the vet, which might be contributing to this. I hope your little girl heals quickly. |
Yeah me too... her incision was crusty and dry and looked irritated so I put some coconut oil on it . she had on one of those inflated elizabethan collars for days now... Poor little angel. |
Reading Lisa's post reminded me of years back when I had my pack of 3, the baby was going in to be spayed, when I went to pick her up the vet told me to watch out for the other 2 dogs as the puppy would smell diff. being at the vet and having the scent of other dogs on her, he said the 2 older ones may not know who she is with these diff. scents on her. As it turned out my 2 older girls were fine, they did sniff her over and over again, they were sweet loving girls, so there were no issue. Could be why Toby was humping her. |
Maybe she came home smelling like that little hussy Husky! lol. That could be it! |
lol, hey ya never know lol, hope little Maddy heals quickly so Toby gets his play buddy back. |

whatever Toby wants to do in his alone time is fine... I just stop him from showing off in front of me, lol... His love affair with our blankets is not for my virgin eyes. Or Maddy's head, lol |

My older Yorkie never humped anything for the 5 months I had him before I got the puppies. I bring the puppies home and he tries to hump them! LOL The girl puppy will turn around and let him know that she is not going to tolerate that behavior. The boy puppy just ignores him. I make sure that the dog stops after a minute or two and redirect him. Of course he just jumps back in there after a few minutes. He humps the puppy while he is wrestling with his sister. Odd behavior but not a big deal really. I try not to make a big deal about it. When we visited my mother in law though she threw a fit about it and about every time the puppies did anything at all. Poor things couldn't move without being fussed at. I try to make sure they get extra loving whenever possible. |
i just discourage it with Toby because he obsesses on things.. Really bad. Like a canine Rain Man. So if I permit it , he won't stop. And he is sooooo verrry stubborn once he sees its got our attention, good or bad that it will become a game to him. But it's actually been days now since he's tried humping her again. |
