Coyote Attacks On The Rise Near Seattle! Another dog killed in possible coyote attack in Kirkland: Another dog killed in possible coyote attack in Kirkland | Q13 FOX News I walk my dogs a few times a week not too far from here, I'm getting a bit more paranoid about doing so with the recent increased attacks. Some days I keep the boys on their leashes for the walks because of that little voice in the back of my head. Other days, they have to run so when we get off the street and we're safe from cars, they are off leash. I guess, in that way, coyotes are like these jihadists or terrorists, minus the malicious intent of course. Take precautions but don't let them stop you from enjoying what life has to offer. ;) |

The request to thin them out is falling on deaf ears, unless a person is attacked. |
Coyotes are smart and have been known to watch and learn the routines of households; the coyotes then lay-in-wait and snatch puppy, dog, cat...as soon as the backdoor opens. Horrible and darn scary. I live in within city, but still keep an eye out for predators from above and the like. You guys who are within howling distance of coyotes, please be (as I know you are) ever diligent and extra careful! |
In my county coyotes can be shot if seen. In other words it is always open season for them. |

It's tough for both sides. Of course we don't want to lose our beloved pets, but we have taken away the coyotes natural habitat and their prey. They need to hunt and eat. Yes they are no longer afraid of us and have snatched dogs right off their leash! It's scary, but the dogs still need their walks. |
I called Fish and Game and told them that a mother coyote and two pups were hanging out about 50 yards from my backyard. They told me they could trap them and then kill them. I said I didn't want them killed, I wanted them relocated. He said they don't relocate because the coyotes will just return to the same area. I told them I had a yorkie and he said don't let it out without supervision. I got "coyote rollers" installed on my back fence but they can still come into my yard from a neighbor's fence. You just have to be very careful |

Coyotes can jump 6-7 feet fences! NEVER leave your dogs out in their backyard unattended. Coyotes have been spotted here in broad daylight, w/cars going by & people out & about. Coyotes eat small birds & animals, if you have bird feeders & keep birds around your property, it will attract coyotes (& birds of prey). They're also scavengers, so clean & put away the grill & garbage. Don't keep pet food outside. |
