Yorkie seizure only when near strangers? Hi everyone. I have a friend of mine who has a beautiful little 5 lb female named Maggie. He told me today that she has been having seizures, but never at home. The only time she has them is when they are out somewhere, and around people she doesn't know. Can anxiety bring on an episode as bad as a seizure? This couple loves their Maggie very much, and far as I know, takes very good care of her. He is taking her in for an evaluation, but I thought I'd toss this out there, and see if anyone has ever heard of this... Like I said, she is totally normal at home, no known health issues, and this just started recently. She is about one and a half years old... Thanks... |
For my human friends with epilepsy and other seizure causing conditions, stress is often a contributing factor in bringing on a seizure. I believe stress can be a trigger, but not the direct cause. There is likely an underlying health condition. |

My dad has elilepsy (I know, not the same as a dog). His trigger is stress. We know that stressful situations that put him out of his element (like right now buying a house) so my siblings and I step in as much as possible to take the burden off of him. It took us a while to figure it out because he only seizes when he's sleeping. So it seems like he works through the situation just fine, but the reality of the toll on him is evident when he finally relaxes. Well... That and I was 8 or so when he started to have grand mal seizures. |
My Gina started having seizures at age five. Just a few per year so no meds were required but her seizures were brought on by stress. |
I agree probably an underlying condition. I hope your friend seeks answers. |
Thank you all. Quote:
