Returning Fleas I've tried everything! I cleaned the house, I use the squeeze meds, I scrub with the shampoo, I even squeezed a few pesks! What else can I do? Grandma thinks flea and heart worm pill...could it help? What would stop this? |
There are a lot of solution if you search through internet, but to prevent flea with my Joey I buy flea pills and fed him monthly. I use baking soda for my carpets and vacuums often. |
I use Frontline topical monthly for fleas and I spray my entire yard and house with DemonMax. |
If you want to use/add some more natural too you could try Neem Oil... |
We battled fleas this summer because I missed a dose of frontline and it took weeks to get rid of them. Vacuuming multiple times a week and washing their bedding in addition to the meds finally seemed to work. Good luck! |
You have to get them under control inside and OUTSIDE of your house. IF your infested outside they WILL continue to come inside, via your clothes, shoes, pet, etc. For anyone that has irrigation at their home, there is a system that you can get to go with it. Sprinkler Magician is one of many out there that it hooks into your existing irrigation system and releases the treatment however much you deem necessary. It is all natural, so it does not harm pets or children and it really does work very well. It kills mosquitoes, fleas, ticks, No-See-Ums, knats, fire ants and just about any other kind of insect. There is also a product that you can put with it that deters snakes etc. There is a possibility you can install this yourself, however if you are not very handy have a licensed irrigation tech put this in for you. You would not believe the irrigation systems we have been called out to fix because people messed up installing. Another trick for your pup is to wash in Dawn Dishwashing Liquid and don't bother with the flea shampoo, make sure to use a conditioner though as it is drying to the skin and hair ;) |
Ok dawn dish soap and what's the yard treatment stuff called? I'll go out to rural king or tractor supply this Saturday |

I feel your pain with this.....:eek::eek: We live in a wooded area, and no matter what, our girls seem to get them EVERY year...I usually take them off their preventative in the winter time, however, I am not doing that this year. You really have to get them under control from the outside first, and then in your home. I have put salt down, and baking soda, which seemed to help. Good Luck! ps. whatever you do, please don't apply HARTZ flea/tick on your babies! I have seen a lot of animals die from an overdose from that product when i was a vet tech |
You should be able to pick up a bag of the stuff for your lawn for under $20. The kind we have you put on and then wet it down to activate it. Then it has to dry completely before it is safe for the pets to be on. make sure you read the directions though as they are not all the same. We have had a lot of luck with it. Wash all the bedding where the dog lays/sleeps and the dryer will kill the fleas. If their dog bed is not washable see if you can put it in the dryer and run it through that. Vacuum the floor daily for 2 weeks to pick up any eggs. If you use a powder on the carpet that will kill any fleas. You can use baking soda, put it on the carpet and let it sit for about 30 minutes and then vacuum it up good. Salt will also kill the fleas as they suffocate with this stuff on them and then are vacuumed up. It is hard to get rid of fleas and keep them gone. We have been struggling with them this year. Raksha picked up fleas really badly at my mother's house when she went there with my daughter over the summer and brought them back home. I get rid of the fleas and then 2 weeks later we have a few again. I get rid of them and then 2 weeks later there are a few more. Mine is not a HUGE flea problem, so we are doing our best to keep it under control. Treating the yard in April, July and November has made a huge difference here. With 4 indoor dogs and an outdoor cat we have to stay on top of the problem here for sure. Good luck. On a good note, as winter comes all the outdoor fleas will die and then if you can get rid of them in the house you should be flea free until next summer. |
I use flea busters every year, it is the best for your house |
