I dont want to let go of my baby..options Nobody knows my baby girl Mia like i do she has been with me since she was 5 weeks old and now 1yr 9 months. Im currently undergoing an economic hardship and have to stay at a friends house for some time until I can financially stabilize myself , Ive reviewed my budget and have determine this to happen mid-january , no later then february. Unfortunately , I am unable to take both of my dog to this household. I am only able to take one, and It was very hard to make this decision, the only reason i can take my 8 month old dog max is because he's more calm ,lazy and doesnt bother much which will suit the place where im staying. I've drained my eyes in tears thinking about my babygirl MIA, it has been very hard for me to let her go. If i could find someone to stay with my babygirl until february I would be in great joy, however, I havent been able to find that. I dont want to take her in ASPCA or any shelter , in fear that my dog will not be treated the way she deserves or will be schedule to kill. I would really want to have her in new apartment when I have it the beginning of the year, but my options for someone to hold her for some time are merely slim. Does anyone have an option for me? 1yr 9months about 8pounds 12-13 inches female Toy Sized . She is spayed and microchipped. This is about the hardest thing Id ever had to do. She was groomed about 2 weeks ago. I have all her vaccines up to date until July 2016 she does not need to renew. Her rabies was done for 3 years in July so she doesn't need that renewed until 2018. She will come with all her clothes . She is potty trained. And i can be a txt or call away if u need me to help you understand her along the way. I love this dog as she was my first and Ive had her since she was 5weeks old. Im willing to supply the food and all her need until then, I just dont have the space to hold her right now. As my friend already has 2 dogs , and having four dogs in an apartment is way too much for her, she is willing to let me bring one only. Please help. What can I do ? Im located in NYC. |
Ugh I'm so sorry you have to go through this I wish I lived closer I would've loved to help you care for her. I really hope everything works out for you:( |
I'm so sorry to hear about what you're going through. I've been in a similar situation before. What I did since no family could take Sam in, I posted an ad on Facebook to see if any of my friends could watch him. I also went out on a limb and posted an ad on Craigslist looking for a foster until I was able to get a place of my own where Sam could come (Sam was a pitbull so it was hard to find a place to stay that accepted him.) Luckily within a week a very sweet woman responded to my ad offering to help, I was thrilled! Even with how nice she was, I did a home check and asked for references. I also wrote out a contract and had it signed by a notary saying that she was just a foster for x amount of months and after the said amount of months was over Sam was to be released back to me, so on and so fourth. Maybe this could be an option for you? I do hope something is able to work out so you won't have to lose your babygirl. |
I'm so sorry! I would totally look after her if I lived anywhere near nyc but I definitely don't! Hopefully you can find someone on here to help you. There are so many caring people on yt that might be able to help. |
Please hang on in there. There are a lot of Yorkietalk members on here. Someone might be able to help. |
I'm sorry to hear what about what you're going through. You will be in my prayers. |
Hi - I soooo hope you can find someone - there has just got to be someone who would be willing to help! I would help if I were closer. |
are you on Facebook, your best bet is to join a bunch of yorkie groups on there and post on all the group pages to see if someone local would take her in for a few months, you might have to pay or at least like you are willing to do cover all the expenses, good luck |
That's a tough one because you basically have to trust a stranger. What if you were able to make some kind of deal with the person who you are moving in with that once you get back on your feet that you would pay them something a little extra for allowing you two bring both of your dogs? Desperate measures call for desperate times. How about keep one in a expen most of the time? Find out what this person wants the most and see if you can fullfill it by letting you keep both yorkies. I would be trying to explore all options with the person I am moving in with. I would basically become her slave if that was what it would take for her to let me keep both of them. I would be too scared to let her go to strangers. That is a tough one because what do you do if she say's no to all of those options. |

Please be careful and do not let your baby go to a complete stranger. Stay away from Craigslist. Talk to your vet to see if maybe someone there would be willing to help or see if you can get some kind of assistance with boarding at their facility or somewhere where you can visit her everyday. This is a very tough one. I hope you figure things out for your little ones sake. If all else fails let her go to a Yorkie Rescue. They will make sure she gets a good home. Just stay away from the Internet. There are lots of good people on this sight and I'm sure others will chime in with some good suggestions. |
I am so sorry to hear about your situation but don't give up as there may be a YT member that can help. I would gladly do it but I'm all the way in Idaho. |
What breed is the younger pup? I would keep the yorkie and let the younger pup go to a "foster type situation" until I could get back on my feet...I would be very fearful I would not get my yorkie back if I let a stranger keep my yorkie for a period of time.... I would contact vets in the area and see if there are any techs working at a vet office that would foster your pup for you....maybe they have a client that fosters....maybe you could check dog rescues about fostering your pet until you can get your liv ing arrangements settled and acceptable for you and your little family.....? |
You can contact a yorkie rescue as well and see if a foster family would hold him/her for you as well. They are already used to pups coming and going, so they do not get as attached and would be less likely to give you a hard time come time to give them back to you. Also the foster families have already been vetted (researched and approved) out by the rescue agency. |

I think this is a promising option! At least these are not complete strangers, and the chances of you getting your dog back are better.....good luck, praying for you and your baby! |

Right now, if food cost is an issue, I have PLENTY of food you can have. I have raw and dried that expires within the next few months. |

How sweet of you to offer this assistance....especially when you are having health concerns yourself....God Bless you.....you are in my prayers, LadyGemma. |
I can help Hi, I am so sorry to hear of your situation. I sent you a private message. |
That is a tough situation, best of luck in finding someone, I am sure you will. |
Thank you so muchhh yorkie mamas !!!❤️❤️❤️ i feel the love felt towards my babygirl! 😍 sorry for the late response. i was running out of time as i had only until tomorrow . Well i remembered my friend's boyfriend had yorkie puppies not so long ago which his grandma had sold , then i figured he probably knew people whom were able . He told me he n his grandma will try to help and so in the end my girlfriend, his actual girlfriend whos one of bff text me to tell me she will do it. I feel such a relief to know someone i trust is taking care of my babyy😬😬😬😬😬 i never though of asking her since she already had a big yorkie at home and i knew how her mother was . But her mother always wanted a female dog as well lol knowing i can visit my baby girl and see her gives me great joy so again i thank you girls for cooperating with me in the sad times. mia will be in the hands of someone who will really take care of her. |
That is wonderful news, I am so happy for you!!! |
I still haven't moved but im doing great. I just got Mia back and she is staying with my mother. Let me just say im thankful i was able to get MIA a place to stay momentarily. MIA is fatter then i left her btw. She is more calm and isn't as hyper as she was before. She recognized me ,as soon as she saw me she went ballistic, she was hyper and didnt want no one else to carry her beside me or my boyfriend. The best feeling ever. However, my concern is she with my mother now and i go see nearly every week, but shes so different. She loves being petted, and loves to be put on your lap and massaging her tummy. She still plays , and barks at mysterious noises outside but idk if its just me but she too calm. My friend says she was very playfull and a bully to her dog lol :D. She certainly grew into her family because my friends mother wants to pick her up every weekend to stay with her , she even cried the night before I went to pick her up. Mia's personality is just unique which is why i never wanted to let her go in the first place, shes highly smart ,very calculating(sneaky), funny, and very well trained. Should i be worried about how calm she is now? |
That is great news that you find a safe place for your little one. I think the calmness could be a good sign. To me, it would mean she is being treated well. I would be concern if she seemed skittish or anxious. As you know you mother, she is probably being very well taken care of. My mother was an animal lover and I knew whatever pet showed up at her door, she would take very good care of them. I wouldn't worry to much about her being calm. I think she is in a good place. |

Unless you see signs of her being more on the shy side, the calmness seems like she's comfortable with the changes that's going on. This is definitely a good sign as some furbutts are very sensitive and don't deal with well ANY type of change. |
