Need advice about contract The contract states the babies are guaranteed for one year against any life threatening congenital defects. (injury, illness, neglect, or patellas are not guaranteed.) If the defect is found, or death occurs, you must notify me immediately with written documents from your vet. If my vet agrees, I will replace the puppy from the next available litter. No money will be refunded and the breeder will not be responsible for any medical bills. Any courier fees will be paid by the purchaser. The breeder will not be responsible for any vet bills after the dog leaves our facility. Purchaser agrees to contact their own vet for further care and vaccinations. It does not say anything about being given time to take the puppies to my vet for a checkup! Should it have that in the contract? |

To me, she is basically saying if ANYthing is wrong - you still have to pay for it, not her. You would also have to pay to return the puppy to her... |

I'm also lookin for a Breeder myself, and I am now setting a basic standard before purchasing a puppy to weed out potential bad Breeders, and one of those things is that they MUST allow me to take it to the vet first before I make a purchase. "If my vet agrees", she could lie and say her vet does not agree, this sounds more like a broker. I have been doing a lot of searching for Yorkies and am starting to learn things as I go along. |
I would really talk to her about that contract, especially since she isn't guaranteeing patellas. The contract I signed stated I had 7 days to take the puppy to the vet for a full refund. I have a year for all genetic problems, and my breeder will refund all money if the puppy has any genetic problems, including rotating patellas, unless I prefer a replacement puppy. I'm not sure I would be comfortable with that contract. But that's just my two cents. |
Are patellas usually guaranteed? |
