I have always allowed my past dog to sleep with me from big to small. My very first yorkie would wait to be taken on and off the bed, she never liked the bed stairs. Now my current ones use the stairs and love it. I do have rules for them one being no playing on the bed. I did have a mishap with my beloved ABby (I lost her during a spay in June). My male who is older blocked her as she ran up the stairs and she attempted to skirt around him at the top of the stairs an mis judged, she fell off and got the wind knocked out of her, she was stunned and t I thought she broke her neck. It was the most frightening thing I ever experienced next to one of my human children being hurt. Thank goodness she was fine but I ran her to the vet. Now I make sure they are supervised on the bed and I remove the stairs if I am not on the bed. It just takes a few extra precautions and supervision but I wouldn't have it any other way |
