Toby: Neutered and Infected Incisions? Hi, It has been awhile since I posted something. After Lexi, we love her so much that we got a little boy (Toby). They're awesome. Long story short, we just got Toby neutered. He managed to get out of his E-cone. I don't know how an infected incision looks like... I have attached pictures. Any input would be appreciated! I also attached picture of him and his sister and him. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5v...ew?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5v...ew?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5v...ew?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5v...ew?usp=sharing |
Its pretty hard to see in those pictures. Is that dried drainage? Do you have a follow-up appointment with the vet? I can see a little bruising which is normal, but other than that it looks like it just needs cleaned up. Maybe try and wash the incision it with a warm, damp cloth. |
It does not look infected yet. I zoomed in which gives a pretty good look. I would soak it with a damp, warm cloth and then see if you can slowly clean it up a bit soaking more as needed. Feel the incision area and see if it feels warmer than other spots in that area. After you get it cleaned up, watch it closely for excessive reddening, or oozing. Keep feeling the area every 5 or 6 hours and if it is noticeably warmer, red or oozing--check with the vet. |
Both of your puppies are adorable. I'm so jealous as I only have one. :-( As others have said, wash it gently and keep your eyes on the area. |
Most vets will see a post op baby if there is a concern about infection or another issue....I would call my vet, verify if that is their policy (it should be)and take him in and let the see it and clean it up a little...maybe give you some Neosporin ("wet" dressing or Betadine Solution ("drying dressing)for the area..... |
You have two adorable babies!!I hope your little Toby heals quickly!:) I know you Will have lots of fun with them we do with ours. I can say we never have a dull moment.LOL Sometimes it's unreal what ours can get into!! |
My Ruger was just nurtured & his insision didn't look like that. I would take him into the vet just to be sure. |
How is Toby doing? Max had a little bruising and a little bubbly white/yellow crusty stuff on his incision that worried me. I don't think his neuter went as well as Teddy's (different doctors), but it all turned out okay. |
Hi all, Thanks for the replies. I don't think it has gotten worse... But there is still yellowish crust... (exactly how Maximo described)... I will call the vet tomorrow and clean with a warm, dampened cloth. Thanks! |
