New command....my baby is so smart
 

My baby has picked up a new command.:D She almost has it down, but there are times when she just ignores me or begrudgingly does it.

Her new command is 'gibmommykiss" or to be grammatically correct "Give mommy a kiss". She will then run to me and lick the tip of my nose. This is by far the best command ever. She does it about 60% of the time but it is getting better.

I'm learning the best way to teach her tricks without using treats is to simply say a word to associate a behavior she already does. For example......Duchess runs to the top of stairs and stands up on her hind legs so I simply would hold my hand ups and say "hi five" and that is how she learned the "high five" command. The same with the potty command, I just say potty while she is pottying and now she can practically potty on demand.
She learn the same way when we play Go find it. I would hide her treats and say go find it. Now I can use this command for just about anything that she knows the word for. I'll say to her to go find your bully stick and she starts looking or go find your toy and she starts looking ( now if I can just teach her to put her toys away).

She is so freaking smart. It blows my mind how fast she learns things.....actually is kind of scary. When I am getting dress for work she just sits there and stares at me. I bet she can tell you what I am going to do next before I even know.....again kind of creepy.

Oh, how sweet. Mine is, "Give mommy a shuggie." He always obliges by licking my nose or mouth (whichever he's in the mood for). Love my baby. Congratulations on a way to get kisses.

Thx, there are time she just doesn't want to do it though. It isn't always out of love that she kisses mommy. She will give me a half ass kiss sometimes. Sometimes she will just lick the air in front of my nose just to shut me up. Gotta love these little buggers.

Max and Sasha will kiss me when I ask them to "give daddy a kiss". But they have to be on my lap. I have never asked when they are away from me. Max will be standing on my chest and I can say "where's daddy's nose?" and he will put his right paw on the tip of my nose.


How do you not love them?

That's how it started and then gradually I would ask her when she was across the room, the first time she ran too me from across the room to give me a kiss was so cool.

Your baby does sound so smart. What fun you will have training her to do tricks. How do you teach them to lick your nose and not your mouth?

I wasn't trying to teach her intentionally. When she would lay on my chest, she would reach up to gently lick my nose. Every time she did it I would just say "give mommy a kiss" and it just morph into a command.

It's getting too the point now where I can ask for a kiss and she will be across the room. She will running over to me and lick my nose. Of course when I say I drop down on the floor on my knees where she just runs up and licks my nose.

Sometimes she just licks the air in front of my nose when she doesn't really feel like giving me a kiss and sometimes she doesn't run to me but walks very very slowly just like a little kid. She definitely has to be in the mood though.
