Limping Yorkie :( Hello Everyone, Yesterday i took Milo for a walk he was fine and dandy. When i left the house for not even 20 min, I came back he was limping. Its his right paw that seems to be bothering him. I checked his paws and even stretched out his leg and he gives me no sign of pain. SO i figured his leg might of fell asleep. Well i checked on him again 20 min later and same thing. Well this morning he was still limping but when i went to leave for work he ran out and was on all 4 legs all fine and dandy. When my BF got home earlier today he said that Milo is still limping. Should i have him seen, does anyone know what could be the cause or is he just playing tricks on us. Thank you every one :) |
You will probably have to go to vet. Dinky had a similar episode. He a had a luxating patella that we had been keeping our eyes on for years. One day he tore a ligament. We did not know that and kept him off his feet for a few days. Suddenly, he seemed better, but was from getting rest. It became clear soon that he still had a problem. So it could be that your dog seems to recover, but does not really. As I said, you will probably need to go to vet. .. the dog could very well be in a lot of pain. |
If my dog was limping for 24 hours I would sitting in my vets office. Please take your baby to your vet, better safe than sorry. |
Like us, they sometimes do some odd thing to a limb...and it's sore for 24 hrs or so, but no real damage is done to anything. For me, I always watch closely to see how bad the limp is, how often, is it intermittent or constant etcetera...and make a judgment call as to when to head to the vet. Did you inspect the claws too and btwn the pads...? |
When Zoey was a puppy, there was a time when she'd lift left paw from time to time. When inspected her leg/paw, I didn't get any reaction. The lifting was on/off. After couple hours, checked again but this time, I decided to inspect her pads more thoroughly. Like in between her toes/pads. Found a freak'n big thorn that was stuck in there. Thankfully, no damage done. |
Check pads, and in between pads, toes. Waffles did that and had a foxtail between toes. |
