I paid $500. for Sugar Bear w/o papers and they had her listed for 2800. I told that what had happened with Bear different thread and that I didnt want the papers I wanted her as a pet. As I was leaving they offered to let me breed her w a different blood line and they would give me her papers and the papers for the pups..... Sounds llike a sweet deal but I dont think I want her to have pups so he said I could have the papers for 150. |
I paid $2000 for Desi and $2300 for Millie. |
$1400.00 for Brandy in Northern California a year and 1/2 ago. At the time I was looking females were running around $1200-$1800. Her brothers were selling for $1100.00. I knew very little about yorkies then and got her at 6 weeks old with no special tests run on her or the parents as far as I know. She had just had her first round of shots on the day I picked her up but my vet re-did them at 8 weeks anyway because he said 6 weeks was too young for the shots to have effect. So far we have been lucky health wise but if I ever get another one I will be much more thorough in my research and will be sure to enlist the help of all the experience breeders here on YT to find a reputible breeder even if I have to fly somewhere to pick him/her up. |
I just saw Fourdez post above mine. I always assume the California is the most expensive place to get a yorkie but whenever this topic comes up the members from NY always seem to pay the most. Also grooming fees seem to be much higher for the NY members. Ouch! |
Hi welcome to YT! Our first Yorkie we got from a pet shop before we knew about puppy mills. He was $2700, on sale for $1750. He was very sick and we paid that much again in vet bills before he passed away a month after we got him. Tucker came from a woman who was breeding out of her home. He was $850. |
I paid $1,000 for Bridget in Northern California - adopted her at 11 months, so she was already spayed and up to date on shots. I think that probably saved me quite a bit of money. Either way, she's worth every penny! |
We paid $1,300 for Aria. If we count all the vet bills, etc we are probably close to $3-4K. Worth every penny as long as she is happy & healthy! |
700 for Dollar and 300 for shipping. |
I paid $2100 for Bella and $1500 for Ruby. |
$1500 and worth every penny! |
I paid $600.00 for scrappydoo ,Iwould of paid more hes worth it, :aimeeyork |
$ 750 for Gizmo. But i also picked him up at 61/2 weeks. |
i paid 350 for maggie at 12 weeks she is full grown at 5lbs i got her real cheap but she is worth alot more :) |
Prince was $500.00 with papers. |
I paid 1,000 for Peanut worth every penny!He is now 5months and 8lbs. |
Teddy was five months when we got him and the breeder was selling him for $700.She says that his brother and sister were $1000 cuz she sold them at 3 months. When we got to her house she let us take him for $500. Well lets just say you get what you pay for. Teddy is the best puppy which really is all that matters but the lady promised me his papers and that he was AKC registered and that he had all his shots. Well she disappeared for about 5 days before she answered the phoen again, next thing I know she tells me he came from Brazil. And then to make everything worse she did send me a little pamphlet showing his "shots" and thats when I realized his birthday was wrong, and it said he was from Uruguay and not from Brazil. So she lied to me the whole way through and I was already in love with him so I didnt want to give him up. My vet gave him all his shots all over again in case the paperwork was false which it probably was. I was really clueless about yorkies att the time but next time i know what NOT to look for! |
I paid 600.00 for Sassy, she was 12 weeks old. She is registered AKC. |
Wow the prices seem to really jump. I agree with everyone though, these great animals are priceless!!! :p |
We paid 600 for Gidget and 700 for Chloe! |
In Minnesota I paid $800.00 for Josie when she was 6 months old. |
I paid $1800 for Sadie. Most of the breeders I contacted were selling between 1500 and 2000. I was broke after, since I had to pay for her on my own, but definetly worth it! :) |
I paid 1500.00 for Cali. Best money I ever spent! |
Im only paying 300.00 for mine. Thats a good deal :aimeeyork |
How good is this deal = Males: $1000, Females = $1200. All with shots, microchipping, tails docked :( , Dew claws removed, CKC Registered, Health guarentee, non-breeding contract, etc. :D heehee pretty awesome one if you ask me. with a Lifetime full of love and happiness with our furbabies! |
At $2500. some people may think I got ripped off but I think Shelby is well worth it. She is a small, silky haired, healthy and pretty female from Southern Calif. Same price or less than the others I looked at. |
guess I got the best deal of all. Kaytlyn was free. A friend of mine was moving and couldnt take her or her mother with her. So I took them. I have papers and all. When I got them I had no clue about yorkies. (thank God for yt) Anyway as most of you know I lost Maddie a few months ago which was Kaytlyns mom. But I will tell you, if I had to do over again, I would have paid a million dollars for her (if I had it). She is the best baby ever. |
My parents bought our first yorkie Lacey at a pet store before any of us knew anything about puppy mills. They paid $400 for her in 1992. We were fortunate with Lacey. No health problems until she went into kidney failure at age 13. She was beautiful, sweet, and smart as could be. We just put deposit on another yorkie female puppy about a week and half ago. Our final price is $950. We will pay the other half when she is old enough to go home. Her name will be Chloe Cheyenne. The breeder lives only 10 minutes away, but only got to see the puppies once. I guess she is really busy because everytime we call there is no answer. And so far she has not returned our calls. I can't wait until I can finally see her again and really can't wait until she is old enough for me to take home. |
Brandy is AKC reg and was only $500. But the breeder was horrible as some of you remember from the Illinois Rescue thread. I really believe you get what you pay for. Many people who are paying more from a GOOD breeder are paying for the tests and the GUARANTEE. Brandy didn't have any guarantee so if something comes up I'm screwed. I have no idea what her background is like which is kind of scary. The reason I got Brandy was to rescue her from the bad place she was. They were giving her away at only 5 weeks and she had never been to a vet, of course she hadn't been wormed or no shots. The lady didn't care about who her dogs went to, only the $$. Thank god eesnor went over there and saved the rest, kept them together and gave them vet care. Bottom line, if there is a guarantee, that's worth the extra money in my eyes. |
I paid $850 for my Yorkie at a family-owned pet/grooming store. I got papers with him and was able to contact the breeder and have been corresponding with her regularly. My Yorkie will definitely not be "tiny." His mother weighed 12 pounds and on a good day, his father weighed 4 1/2 pounds. My pup is 5 months old - and weighs 5 1/4 pounds.....but definitely has more growing ahead of him. He is absolutely beautiful, affectionate, loving, playful and very very healthy. Out only vet bills have been for "puppy shots." He has a wonderful affectionate, laid back personality like his mother and is becoming a beautful silver Yorkie like his father. He has a lovely silky coat, which I thank God for - because he doesn't like being combed or brushed ---but in all honestly - he is really getting better in this department. Carol Jean |

THAT IS SO TRUE. I don't disclose the price that I paid for my yorkies because there really is no price tag for the love they've brought me as far as i'm concerned. I've paid a pretty penny for some of mine. I try to be fair and offer my babies at a price that is relevant to the care and love they have received in my home. I once saw a yorkie for 400 dollars that in my opinion was top of the line. But on the contrar he was being offered by a breeder who was getting out of the business. I think the price tag should have alot of bearing on the breeder as WELL as the puppy. JMHO. So many breeders are offering tiny puppies for 2000 and up. I don't go for that, nor do I think it's fair. You will get what you pay for as far as the breeder, the parents they chose to mate and the overall care and guarantee that comes with any paticular puppy. Most GOOD breeders cannot possibly sell their precious babes for under a thousand and still be able to continue with a healthy breed program. Some may be able to...but it's not realistic if you're looking for healthy yorkies from a breeder who has not only put her puppies number one, but her parents and grandparents of the babies as well! |
