Thank you so much . He is in a lot of pain but I called the Vet and she said it takes awhile for the pain meds to work .. He should be feeling better in the morning .. He is still quite restless because it hurts to lie down .. Poor baby ..

He should not be in pain. Your vet should have given him an injection immediately after the surgery.

What did she give him for pain at home?

They gave him an injection of Rimadyl at the vet and sent me home with Tramedol .. I called her earlier and she told me to increase the dosage . He is laying down now so I think it is working ..

Oh that's good! Glad to hear he is more comfortable!! :) Tramadol is a good med for them.

They gave Sasha tramadol for her hip surgery and also to Max when he hurt his paw. It seemed to work well with both of them with no side effects.

Oh, I am sure he will. Also, keep in mind that the anesthesia tends to make them restless and they can act a bit strange. He might whimper and have some shaking from it.

I remember when I brought Cookie back from her spay. She looked so pathetic just standing with her head down, it took about a half hour before she laid down.

I saw a post immediately following this one, that makes me feel better....bless he is getting additional pain med at home now, and that is excellent! I am so happy for this young man!

*** Update ***
 
Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers .. Angus had a peaceful night . He woke up at midnight to go out and pee but slept the rest of the night . He is feeling much better this morning . The pain meds are working well .. He goes in Thursday morning to have the 3 drains removed then two weeks to have the staples removed .

Keep him calm so he can heal. I have had too much experience in the last year with helping my babies heal. They will think they are back to 100% very soon and don't understand the damage they can cause with too much running/playing/roughhousing.


The worst part is over. Now you just need some time and patience and very soon your baby will be back to his same old self!

Angus is feeling much better today as you can see . He is sleeping by the woodstove . He has to wear the T-shirt for awhile so he does not lick or scratch the incisions but he does not mind it . He is such a sweet boy ..

Yes , Oscar & Kaiah are being very good . It is funny how dogs know when one of their siblings is not feeling well .. They look after Angus pretty well .
