Rolling on back and trying to scratch self Boomer and Thumper are doing great and I am slowly calming down in my worries over them. One thing I am noticing about Thumper is that he is periodically rolling on my blankets and looks like trying to scratch an itch he can't seem to reach on his back throughout the day. Also when I gave him a bath last week the first thing he did after the tub was roll on my blankets again trying to dry himself. He seems not to like anything in his eyes or wet on him. He is also constantly licking/biting his right paw. I see the vet later this month and will ask him about what I have noticed. I don't think its anything serious as his paw/leg doesn't seem to hurt him when I examine it. Has anyone experienced this before? |

I have read here paw licking can be food or environmental allergies (do not recall which one), |
My boy does this esp after the blankets have come out of the dryer. I think it's the smell of the laundry detergent. He loves the smell of the dryer sheets too! If one falls out of the load of laundry as I'm folding it, he rolls on it with his back, wiggling back and forth. It's very funny to watch. He also does it with wet towels. If I have them in the floor before I throw them in the wash he will roll in then the same way. Just a funny little quirk. |
I would inspect his skin all over...armpits, backs of back legs, btwn back legs, under the collar, belly...etc....make sure there are no areas of irritation. Paw licking/chewing is the cardinal sign of allergies...but is he only focusing on the 1 paw? If so, that's a bit unusual. |
