Behavoir I have a 3 month old who I swear is ADHD. Zoom zoom all around yard. Pulls on my pant legs. Loves to play, but I find she gets a little to aggressive with play. Any ideas to help out. |
Sounds like a normal yorkie baby to me lol. Yorkies are super hyper dogs, as puppies they are filled with energy that needs to be burned off, zooming is good burns off that energy. they can get a bit wild when they are in this zooming mode. If the pup is pulling at your clothing, pants, give the command word of NO in a firm voice, remove her from your clothing and replace your pants with a toy, when she takes the toy give happy praise or a treat as her reward for listening. You must be consistent and patent, use the same command word at all times, remove her, give her a toy, reward and praise. She is just a baby, 12 weeks in this world, they are fast learners but playing is their first priority. Teaching them "no biting" at a young age is a MUST. Consistency and patience on your part is a MUST, no yelling, no screaming, no hitting, no punishment, just use a FIRM voice when giving a command, she will get get. |
Sounds like a typical 3 month old to me. I have 2 puppies that are now almost 7 months old. The good news is they do slow down a little in a couple months, but mine can still get wild. When she gets too rough yelp so she knows she is hurting you. Mine have each other and my older Yorkie to teach them to not be too rough, but if I yelp they would back right off and bite me more gently. My puppy (the other is my daughter's) has his mouth on me all the time and I rarely have to tell him any longer to be gently. I would let them chew on my hands though as long as they did not hurt me. This is the age to teach them. The zooming around though is typical Yorkie puppy behavior. Enjoy it and get them to chase a ball or play tug of war with a toy. Take them for a walk around the block and wear them out. They will slow down in a month or two, but not too much. I had 2 at 10 weeks old and for about 3 weeks I wasn't sure I was going to make it! LOL. Now, things are amazing. Good luck and enjoy your new baby! |
Hi and welcome to YT. Sounds totally like a normal yorkie puppy to me :D! If she gets too mouthy/bitey - just make a squeal like a fellow puppy litter mate would do if she hurt the litter mate - and it usually stops them, as they understand that type of language at this age. |
