Lumps and bumps on beanie Hi all, it has been a long time since I have posted, but I need some help. So, for the past couple of weeks, I have noticed these THINGS on Beanie. It started out as one lumpy thing on her back that had some pus in it. Yes, I picked/squeezed it II know I that is bad, bad on dogs AND humans) and I put Peroxide on it and it seemed to go down. She now has more. Once the lumpys break, they then turn into scaly areas. She does, however, have a hard lump that hasn't broken further down her back. She has always had really dry, flaky skin since I got her (almost like cradle cap), in varying degrees during the year. I use Vibrac shampoo and conditioner to keep it under control. These bump things are new and kind of freaking me out. I am going to take her to the vet to get her stupid, totally unnecessary rabies shot soon, so I will get these things examined. But I am wondering if any of you guys have seen this on your doggies? I have brought her to various green/parks to run around and I am hoping she didn't get bit or pick up some kind of freakin thing on her skin!!! Thanks for your input.:) |
I would be wanting a skin scrape done (cheap and easy!) - to see if there is a bacterial overgrowth - which would be a skin infection called pyoderma (staph intermedius)...this would be treated w/ Simplicef x 30 days. Has seborrhea been looked into yet? You might want to look into Duoxo shampoo and sprays on Amazon... |
Great you are taking her to the vet, as Wylie's Mom wrote a skin scrape should be taken to determine what these puss lumps / bumps are. None of my pups ever had this so I cannot offer what they can / may be. |
They may also need a sample of the puss inside- leave them alone so they fill and can be drained for the vet! They will culture the goo. |
