Finalllllyyy.MUNSY YORKIES after my hectic search and not being able to commit to some breeders i felt weren't completely trustworthy i came accross Munsy Yorkies - Home a few nights ago while i was hopeless searching all of google/facebook/puppyfind for more breeders. i came across her facebook page https://www.facebook.com/munsyyorkies and saw she only had amazing reviews and that she just had a litter. with that being said this just felt right so after a few emails and 3 nights of serious thinking my deposit was sent today. i am so anxious and already cant stop thinking of new names and what its going to be like when she gets home. this is just the beginning so i have a long time to wait as the puppies are just a week old i believe but still its exciting... if anyone has gotten a furbaby from Brandy or heard anything please do share !:p:D:animal36 |
Their site is lacking in information. No health contract posted. Do they give one? No prices posted either, so can't comment on that. Although it looks like they only do one or two litters per year which is good. Also they dogs are AKC. Another good sign. However, on their pups page, the top two seem to have brown noses. One of their studs is a chocolate. They don't say how much the dams weigh. |
How old are the babies when they let them go to new homes? That speaks volumes.... |
Puppy It seems from the website that only the Florida Health Certificate is given as a health guarantee? It is an interesting and pretty comprehensive contract. Pups must be over 8 weeks, but who knows what this breeder does? There seems to be a lot of colors in her dogs and pups, are they all standard for a purebred Yorkie? The studs are small, around 3 pounds, but doesn't say, as far as I could see , what the dams are. She is a hobby breeder and one hopes a good one! I would certainly find out as much info as you can and see the breeder and her breeder parents. Also a good health guarantee over and above the Florida vet certificate would be great! Wishing you good luck and praying your pup is healthy and lives a long and happy life :) |
Sorry - and I HATE to say anything negative - ever... But I don't trust that website...it all seems a bit fake and iffy to me - if it were 'over here', I wouldn't trust it. Anything with paw-prints in the background is always a big 'no-no'... I'd avoid it like the plague... |
Paw prints are better than bible verses. She is in FL. The Op is in NY. I doubt she will visit in person and the deposit is non refundable. That is another point to me that is iffy. |
Pup price On another site, price from $1100 to 2000. She also sells pups as purse pups or studs! |
NY and FLA I agree it will be a sight unseen purchase from an unknown 'breeder' Oh dear!! A big risk in my view! |

Don't get me wrong, I would never personally buy from this breeder, esp sight unseen! |
hello yorkie talk family ! i am so happy im getting some feed back.... your adivce is always welcomed by me !in regaurds to the health gurantee contract she offers a one year health gurantee for life threatening genetic defects also mom is 7 pounds.. pricing she told me is boys 1100 / girls 1500 and up she had a lengthy deposit list but some are interested in chocolate puppies which i believe she has a choclate boy and he is actually the dad to this litter but all pups right now are looking like traditonal color like mom . about it being site unseen... yes it is but she only releases at 10 -12 weeks. and she perfers i fly out and pick up which i most probably will do. she doesnt like flying her pups alone in cabin . she has only but great reviews on her facebook and alot of people seem to keep in contact and send her update pics. i believe she only has few litters a year and is a hobby breeder. please keep the advice coming.. my first yorkie is from a breeder in texas who is retired in breeding yorkies she is a gift from the heavens and has given me no issues. she was purchased from a site (home)i never saw but breeder was absoultely amazing and she also only had amazinggggggg reviews. the breeder was also here on yorkie talk . |
she also has videos of past pups she has breed playing in and outside of her home. |
Pup Thank you for the update and additional info. Good that the mom of the pups is a good weight and that she keeps the pups to 12 weeks. I do not know the deal with chocolate Yorkies, they may be standard but IDK?? Does this off color come with any genetic defects too? I am glad she has a year's health guarantee. It is one thing getting a pup sight unseen from a well known and respected breeder, but more risky for a small hobby breeder with no history of many generations of litters. Good luck and hope your baby turns out to be all you expected:) By the way does she specify if you can breed her pups or does she require neutering as part of the sales contract? |
Chocolates are a fault and should not be considered a "rare' color or charged more for it. In fact, pups with a choc nose should be cheaper. One year health guarantee? Sorry but most congenital defects don't show up until years later. Living in NYC you prob think $1500+ or up for a female is cheap but for a hobby breeder from FL I think that's high. |
Chocolate is definately not standard for the breed. See the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America web site. As far as I know you can not fly an unaccompanied dog in the cabin! Only in cargo. |
Good morning :) Yes yes I mean in cabin lol I do not know correct name for that part of the plane Also I personally do not find the price tag cheap at all even tho I'm from New York my first yorkie ran me about the same so I'm just taking it as it comes as I have found people selling pups for less and some selling for more I just went with what felt right :( |
Pup It seems that you are going to get this pup. Hope you will go pick him/ her up and check everything out while there. Read contract carefully and if it were me, I would do my own vet check in FLA! You don't want to find a problem back in NY. Please consider getting good health insurance ASAP before any health issue happens. Many hereditary issues can come up later in life and can be very expensive. If you need info on insurance we at YT can help you with that. Good luck :) |
Hello !! Yes can you help maybe with dog insurance I was looking at healthy paws and trup something is another I've heard of want to get it for both my pups ! |
Insurance Glad to hear you are thinking of getting insurance. In my view, Trupanion and Healthy Paws are great companies. I have Trupanion with zero deductible and it pays 90% of covered costs. Very happy with them and I have used it a lot!! HP s is pretty similar but the good thing with this company is that they levy the deductible per year and not per illness. If you have zero deductible it does not matter, but if you want a lower premium and higher deductible, HP s would be a better bet. One thing with HPs is that they can raise premiums with age, but Trupanion does not. They only increase if the vets in the area charge more than normal in your area. I have only had one increase in six years. Please look carefully at coverage. The initial vet report you get is very important as any pre existing conditions the dog has will not be covered! That is why getting the insurance while the pup is young and disease free is essential. You may get a discount for two pups? Good luck. :) |
I wish you much luck with your new puppy, but I am curious, as a fellow New Yorker, why you did not find a breeder within the Tri-State area? While many on this site tout using the YTCA (Yorshire Terrier Club of America), I know one person who got a dog from a breeder on that list and her dog passed at a young age and she was very unsatisfied with the breeder. So, while it is not a fail safe, one of the breeders listed on the site for the NY area is Pamela Langstein. Also, I know someone who got a puppy from Claudia Pierro of Castleford Yorkies and Maltese and she was VERY HAPPY. I know that Ms. Pierro was not only a member of YTCA, but she used to be the President of the the Watchung Mountains Yorkshire Terrier Club in New Jersey. So, if you do not have a final commitment with this breeder, maybe you could look into contacting either of them? Anyway which way you go, I hope and pray you get a happy, and most importantly a HEALTHY, puppy which brings you joy for many years to come. Cheers... Quote:

hello !!! getting the puppy from my area was my first goal.. unfortantely i REFUSE to purchase from a pet store and everyone else i found who had puppies seemed so shady !!! i found a couple people i would think about but the price was toooo crazy for me... 2500 and up i refuse to pay also.. yes i have sent my deposit but if you can pass along the info you have for breeders in this area id appreciate so much and def still look in to it. you never know they might have exactly what im looking for ! Anytime I hear someone mention flying their dog in cargo I cringe. I purchased a pup for my mother 5 years ago. We live in MI, pup came from broker in CA (pre YT didn't even know what a broker was) Anyway this poor girl is scared to death at any loud noise. Thunder makes her shake for hours. I know she was traumatized from being sent on the plane and has never gotten over it. I was ignorant to agree to such a thing and anyone who would do it cares nothing about the welfare of the dog. |
If you think this breeder could possibly be a broker I would run the other way. My Ollie came from one and he has horrible LP's, both knees and Chari. |
My first Yorkie was sent to me on plane 5 years ago and she luckily was fine. This current breeder I'm in talks with did say she really prefers I Pick her up which I'm leaning towards doing. Quote:

The information I have on these breeders is a couple of years old, so I don't know how current it is, but if not you can always Google their names. Nor, do I know their prices. Pamela Langstein's website is: Home Page Claudia Pierro's website is: Castleford Yorkshire Terriers & Maltese: Hobby Breeder, Claudia Pierro Again, much luck... Quote:
